PAYROLL PETS

Modern life is incredibly busy. Combining work and home life can be a balancing act, and recently, we’ve all been exposed to considerable uncertainty. Pets can really help our mental well-being and help us find some solace and stability in difficult times. We asked you, the payroll professionals, to show us your pets.

Here are just a few of your wonderful furry and feathered friends...

Name: Yoshi Sent by: Carla Hudson, senior payroll specialist for EDF

“Yoshi came to live with my husband and I in June 2021. He hasn’t always been the easiest office companion (he was basically feral on arrival) but he provides many topics for our daily payroll Teams calls, and often chimes in with his opinions. I had a tough 2021 with some health-related issues, and at one point, wondered if Yoshi came at the wrong time. As time has passed and he’s settled into our lives, I realise he came at a good time. We look forward to the years ahead and hope he’ll eventually get to meet my payroll colleagues.”

Name: Lulu (pictured with her uncle Chippy) Sent by: Kay Augustus ACIPP, payroll associate at LHP Chartered Associates “Lulu loves her spot on my desk. She has her own pillow and blanket up there but loves to snuggle on my lap. She’s only five months old in this picture. We got her during the pandemic and she’s been an amazing companion to myself, my husband and our two children. She loves her Uncle Chippy, who is 15, blind and deaf.”

Names: Hazel and Blackberry Sent by: Alison O’Connor, payroll operations manager at JC Payroll Services Limited “I’m totally besotted with our lovely rabbits, who we rescued in Feb 2020. They’ve given me and my family a lot of joy over the last two years. They’re

Name: Gus Sent by: Emily Cocking ACIPP, payroll administrator at Cox & Co Payroll Solutions

“Gus is a four-and-a-half-year- old French bulldog. We’ve had

him since he was a puppy, and he is my best friend. We’re inseparable and he always makes me smile. Since starting my payroll career, he’s been by my side every day that I work from home and attends every Level 3 apprenticeship session with me. Gus provided me with huge support and motivation during lockdown, and it was great I got to walk him every day. He has had one of the biggest positive impacts on my life, he’s the best payroll pet and I’m grateful to have such an amazing dog.”

ironically classed as exotic pets due to their unique health requirements, even though they are the third most popular pet in the UK! They need loads of space, and we did a lot of research to find out the best way to house and care for rabbits. They’ve kept my family and I sane over several lockdowns, with a project to give them the best life we could after we rescued them. It’s been great fun creating their ‘Bunningham Palace’ in our garden.”

If you’ve submitted your payroll pet to us and they’re not included, you’ll see them in a future issue of Professional .
