ignorant and perverse, to their own undoing.

Points and Problems 1. "Who is this?" (Matt. 21:10). This is a great question and deserves a faithful answer. It was asked by the city of Jerusalem as it was stirred to its depths by the Lord Jesus Christ. Out of the chapter before us there are four answers to the question. (1) There is the answer of the multitude that attended Him across Mt. Olivet: “This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee” ( v . 'l l ) . It was a true answer but entirely inadequate. Only His humanity is emphasized, and the mention of Nazareth tended to put Christ in a bad light. (2) There is the answer of the Holy Spirit who con firms the w o r d s of the prophet Zechariah: “Behold, thy King cometh unto thee” (v. 5). Certainly this is a true answer presenting Christ in the third aspect of His official character of Prophet, Priest, and King. (3) There is the answer of the children In the temple: “Hosanna to the Son of David” (v. 15). They testify to Him as Saviour and as being Heir to the throne of David. “Hosanna” means “save now” and thus, though they did not under stand all of the. implications of what they said, these children recognized Christ as Saviour. To this point He has been recognized as Prophet, Priest, and King. (4) But there is also the answer of Christ Himself to the ques tion. In various ways He declares Himself to be Lord. He shows Him self to be Lord of nature (v. 3), Lord of men (vs. l, 2, 6), Lord of events (v. 4), and Lord of the temple (v. 12). All of these answers are needed for a complete picture of the Son of God. 2. "And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them" (v. 14). In the midst of judgment we find mercy. Those who came to Him even at this time with their need were not turned away. No picture in this Gospel more beauti fully sets forth the desire of Christ’s heart to bless and heal. But He' can not do this as long as sin is allowed to remain in the heart. This picture is just a foreglimpse of the grace, and power which the Son of God will manifest when He comes to the future temple. At that time not an inhabit ant in the land shall say, “I am sick” (Isa. 33:24). 3. "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise" (v. 16). When evil men were de spising the Lord Jesus, the children praised Him. It is not difficult to get children to love and honor Jesus. They are oftentimes hindered by a d u l t s , discouraged by parents, and turned aside fi;om the right way by grown ups, but given an honest opportunity, children will love and serve the Lord.

When the late King Edward, of Eng land, opened the new docks at Cardiff, the press reported the following re ception: “Almost simultaneously with the entry of the Royal yacht at one end of the dock, a couple of steamers, crowded from stem to stem with little .children, the inmates of various local benevolent institutions, swept in at the other. On one of the steamers were hundreds of trimly-clad waifs- and strays; on the other were many deaf and dumb children. A large banner conveyed their megsage to His Majesty in these simple but eloquent terms: “We cannot shout, we cannot sing, but we love our gracious king!” Some hearts cannot demonstrate as others, but all can l o v e t h e Lord.
