NORTHERN IRELAND MEMBERS OF THE CIOB GATHER FOR THE MUCH ANTICIPATED RETURN OF ITS REGIONAL ANNUAL DINNER EVENT… CIOB members enjoy return of major social event

T he Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) – the world’s largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership – held its regional Annual Dinner event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast on Friday 20th May 2022. Over 250 construction professionals from both public and private sectors attended the popular event to enjoy an evening of networking and reconnecting. Master of Ceremonies was TV personality Adrian Logan, who conducted proceedings. Speakers were Roger Gillespie, Chair of the CIOB Belfast Hub committee, who gave an update on the CIOB locally, and Mike Foy OBE, President of the CIOB, who used the

opportunity to speak about the important role clients have in delivering successful construction projects. The after-dinner entertainment included a Q&A session with retired Ulster and Irish Rugby player Chris Henry, as well as Wilma Erskine OBE, former Secretary Manager of Royal Portrush – widely recognised as a key figure in securing the hugely successful Open Championship for Northern Ireland. Roger Gillespie, Chair of the CIOB Belfast Hub committee, commented, “This was the first CIOB annual dinner event to be held in Belfast since 2019. It was great to have so many influential construction industry representatives in attendance.

We are delighted that over 250 people enjoyed the evening. “We are grateful to our sponsors who helped make the night a success. They were Mullan Training, ABL Group, Ridgeway, Hays, Tughans, Training LMS, Keystone, and MSM Contracts. We are looking forward to planning a similar event in 2023.” Esteemed committee member Philip Corr, who sadly passed in 2019, was remembered during the event. In total over £3,000 was raised on the night and donated to Air Ambulance NI, which was the dedicated charity in his honour. For further information on the CIOB, visit www.ciob.org.
