Success takes practice, patience, and perseverance. Think about where you are in your business. Are you standing in the batter’s box scared and unsure of your ability to play the game? Give yourself props because at least you stepped up to the plate! “However, I challenge you to make the decision to swing and follow all the way through, because in your moment of indecision, you’re missing the ball completely or just getting a piece of it,” Cassidy says. “You’re missing out on the life that you want, or just catching glimpses of it. You deserve that home run! Go out there and hit your business out of the park.”
Get Your Head in the Game “If you think you’re going to leave Convention and squeeze some Melaleuca into your spare time, it’s not going to happen,” Cassidy says. That kind of mentality is called dabbling—and with it come dabbling results, which lead to frustration. Why is it so easy to show up for somebody else and work a 9–5 job, but so challenging to show up for ourselves? “I have to mentally clock in for my Melaleuca business, because if I don’t I’ll get distracted or make excuses,” Cassidy says. Her strategy is to work like her whole team is watching. “Because you know what?” she says. “They are. And so are my kids.” And sometimes that feels like the hardest part. According to Cassidy, there are three things that will stop someone dead in their tracks in their Melaleuca business: fear of failure, fear of rejection, and (believe it or not) fear of success. Face Your Fears When you can acknowledge your fears from the get-go and put them into the context of your business, you’re going to be able to change your mindset and move forward. “The reality is that if you’re doing your 7 Critical Activities, you will not fail,” Cassidy says. “Are you going to hear the word no? Yes. Will you get no-shows? Yep. But when you treat this like a real business and you know that things are going to happen, you get up every morning mentally prepared to do it again.”
