PhotonAssay™ SGS operates multiple PhotonAssay™ units worldwide, offering a rapid, non-destructive alternative to fire assay. Using high-energy X-ray technology, PhotonAssay™ can analyze samples of up to ~500 g in under two minutes. This technique delivers accurate analysis of gold, silver and copper without consuming or altering the sample. Unlike conventional fire assay, PhotonAssay™ eliminates the use of lead and other hazardous reagents, cutting chemical waste and improving laboratory safety. ColdBlock™ digestion SGS was among the first laboratories to adopt ColdBlock™, an innovative sample digestion technology that uses short-wave infrared heating combined with a cooling zone. This process achieves near-total digestions in about 30 minutes, compared with the 2–3 hours often required for conventional four- acid methods. The technology minimizes volatilization losses, ensures consistent recoveries across multiple elements, and reduces the risk of cross-contamination. ColdBlock™ eliminates the use of perchloric acid, a hazardous and highly regulated reagent, improving operator safety and reducing environmental liabilities. The method also lowers energy consumption and enhances throughput, enabling laboratories to process more samples in less time while maintaining accuracy and reproducibility.
