Summer Chess Camp Instructor: Progress with Chess

All levels welcome. A large experienced staff of professional chess instructors will give your child the knowledge and attention to learn and develop their skills. Beginners will master the rules and moves of the pieces. Experienced players will learn strategy, tactics and checkmate patterns. Activities include a mixture of interactive lessons, problem solving exercises and supervised open play. There will be a short recess in the morning and afternoon with opportunities for physical exercise. Full or half day options.

Kitronik Robots Camp Instructor: Michael Carroll, Jr. Learn to build a robot-kit provided using the BBC Micro: bit and robot kit. This course allows students to learn about the Kitronik robot providing a fun introduction to robotics and electronics. Students learn to program the robot with Make code and Python to control the robot. The robot will be provided to each student which they can take home and continue to learn. Explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills. Young inventors will be dreaming up their very own futuristic smart home filled with gadgets, LED’s, technology and innovation; use tools to take apart robotic dogs and compare their inner mechanics to the anatomy of a real dog; design tracks for the Optibots to follow while exploring different modes of transportation and explore chemistry, non-Newtonian fluids and magnetism as they investigate magnetic slime.
