(4) We know because of God’s re lationship to us, “He hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts” — “He abides with us” and we are called “the sons of God”—I John 3:1. (5) We know because we have the presence of the Holy Spirit to direct us. Verses 23 and 24—“And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” In concluding this portion of study let us read together these verses. I John 1 :9—“If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Hebrews 7 :25—“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the utter most that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make inter cession for them.” I John 1:6, 7—“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the tru th ; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” I John 2:3—“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”
