Sustainability
Specialist Nutrition is aware that we have a responsibility to deliver an environmentally and carbon efficient product to our customers and provide the expertise to support them in growing homegrown forages on their farms. Since 1999, we have partnered with some of the world’s leading brands to provide environmental solutions by significantly reducing their energy usage, and adding value to co-product by supplying to farms to provide a highly nutritious and carbon friendly animal feed solution. According to the GFLI metrics for sustainable feed, which is recognised globally, moist feeds currently have the lowest carbon footprint value of any animal feed. Our nutritionists work with farmers to formulate diets to achieve the best feed efficiency possible. We are working with these farmers to achieve higher outputs from fewer inputs and close any nutritional gap, ultimately improving the overall footprint of their farm. Sustainability is at the core of what we do, and we continuously undertake projects to achieve environmental improvements. In 2021, Specialist Nutrition formally adopted the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) to enhance our sustainability strategy. We believe we are custodians of the future, working hard so that our actions today do not negatively impact future generations. Our people share a culture focused on achieving this with integrity and ambition across our business. We will continue to play our part as a sustainable business and help our farming customers along the pathway to achieving the targets set out to 2030.
