COURSES FOR SCHOOL LEAVERS Each year around 2,000 16-18 year olds join us to study on our range of career-focused vocational courses.

All our courses have a strong practical element, with an emphasis on ensuring you are ready for work or university. Teaching teams include practitioners from relevant sectors, and most learners complete work experience or an industry placement. Facilities reflect the practical nature of each subject – come and see for yourself at our next Open Event! We have a new virtual reality (VR), immersive space for students. The state-of-the-art technology will be used across a wide range of courses and includes driving simulators and immersive learning spaces which work with a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

Parents and carers While Nescot emphasises the importance of independent learning and taking responsibility, we involve you at every stage. Parents often join their young person at Open Events and you will be invited to regular parents evenings during the teaching year. Families are also invited to end- of-year shows, exhibitions, displays and award events held in many of our subject areas.

Our range of courses for 16-18s includes: • Animal Studies • Art & Digital Design • Beauty Therapy • Catering & Hospitality • Computing & IT • Construction – Brick, Carpentry, Electrical, Plastering, Plumbing • Creative Media • Early Years (Childcare) • Enterprise & Entrepreneurship (Business) • English & Maths (taught alongside your main subject area) What can I study?

How do I join a course? There are several ways to take the next step to joining a course with us:

• Foundation Learning • Hair & Media Make-up • Hairdressing • Health & Social Care • Motor Vehicle and Motorsport • Music Production

I’m Deaf, and I use speech and British Sign Language to communicate. Nescot and the Performing Arts department are really inclusive and welcoming, and everyone has been so supportive. I would 100% recommend my course to other Deaf students – being here has played a role in helping me grow and gain confidence. I plan on continuing to study drama at university.

Read more and apply online at our website. We advise you to apply as early as possible in the year before you wish to join us. This ensures we can schedule an interview for you, and spaces do fill up early on some courses. Visit us at one of our Open Events to talk to subject tutors and students in any course that interests you! Your family are welcome to join you at all our events. In some cases you may be able to join a course during enrolment (late August – early September) even if you have not applied. See enrolment pages on our website for details. Harry Performing Arts, Level 3

The Plumbing studies evening course I am completing at Nescot allows me to continue working while I decide the best route to enter the industry. The advice, guidance and encouragement from my tutors has been great and the course has presented opportunities I never knew existed. My next step is to apply for a plumbing apprenticeship with a local construction company.

SATURDAY ACADEMIES Fun, practical courses for 13-16 year olds

Enjoy learning something different, or maybe try out a subject you might want to study full- time at College! Courses last 4 sessions, taught on Saturdays.
