PLUMBING & HEATING TECHNICIAN City & Guilds domestic heating and plumbing courses cover the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in domestic plumbing and heating. COURSE OVERVIEW Plumbing & domestic heating technicians size and select, plan and install, service, maintain and commission plumbing and domestic heating systems. All technicians will be required to work on typical plumbing elements such as hot and cold water systems and storage, supplies to dwellings and associated pipework, above-ground pipework, connection to below-ground, sanitary pipework, fittings and furniture. Appliances and equipment can include central heating boilers, bathroom furniture, sanitary appliances, drainage and rainwater systems There are 3 routes available, and at Nescot we predominantly offer the Gas Fired Hot Water Heating Appliances Technician in domestic settings, however, please contact us if you are interested in either: • Domestic air source heat pumps and solar thermal systems in domestic premises or • Non-domestic plumbing technician - this suits organisations such as hospitals, healthcare premises, schools, high rise buildings, public buildings, industrial and commercial premises, etc. Areas of study include:  Domestic hot and cold water systems  Central heating systems  Sanitation systems  Environmental technologies  Gas safety

LENGTH The apprenticeship will take 48 months. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS You will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or comparable qualification) in English and maths. Applicants must be employed with a suitable employer and have all relevant contractual documentation in place prior to college enrolment. PROGRESSION Fully qualified Level 3 Plumbing and Heating Engineer. Qualify for full advanced craft Gold SKILLcard and Gas Safe Registration. Possible progression on to managerial/ supervisory roles or other higher level apprenticeships such as a Building
