DIGITAL SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

LEVEL 3

The broad purpose of a Digital Support Technician is to maximise the effective use of digital office technologies, productivity software, digital communications, including collaborative technologies, and digital information systems to achieve objectives. COURSE OVERVIEW The Digital Service Technician standard is designed to support a new employee to achieve the level of technical ability and professional skills to be able to fulfil this role. Apprentices will attend 1 full day of college per month. Lessons take place in a dedicated classroom with relevant software for practical work. In addition, apprentices will be supported online to study web-based training modules and simulation tools. During the course of the apprenticeship, the practice assessor will meet with the apprentice and employer via Zoom/other approved method in the workplace and set supported targets for work evidence to be compiled into a portfolio. This is submitted at the end of the apprenticeship as part of the end-point assessment. Assessment is via portfolio and ongoing assessment, with the main mock and real assessments beginning after roughly 1 year on programme. LENGTH Approximately 18 months. Apprentices will attend 1 full day of college per month.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS You will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade 9 - 4 (or comparable qualification) in English and maths. Please note, you will also be required to undertake an initial assessment prior to enrollment in order to assess your current level of English and maths. Your interviewer will discuss with you what minimum level you will need to achieve at initial assessment. PROGRESSION Apprenticeships build skills, experience and qualifications to enable you to develop a sustainable career ion your chosen sector.
