HAIRDRESSING PROFESSIONAL

LEVEL 2

The Level 2 Hairdressing Professional Apprenticeship has been developed by industry experts and suits applicants in the hair & beauty sector, from a small salon to a large high street premises. COURSE OVERVIEW Apprentices will undertake two years of study and professional practice, developing skills based on a comprehensive consultation, with applicable industry tests, whilst developing excellent client care skills, meeting legal, industry and organisation standards. The apprentices develop their creativity in hairdressing, for a wide and diverse range of clients, as well as learning to liaise with salon professionals, industry suppliers and contacts. The apprentice will be responsible for demonstrating industry standards of professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills, teamwork, retail and selling skills for clients. They will complete a range of hairdressing services to create a variety of looks. The apprentice will undertake a City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals, as part of the End Point Assessment, and create a portfolio of evidence throughout their programme of learning in preparation for a professional discussion at end point assessment. The end point assessment will consist of a knowledge test, practical assessment and professional discussion. LENGTH The apprenticeship will take 24 months, plus 3 months typical EPA.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS You will need to have achieved GCSEs at grade 2/3 or above in English and maths (or comparable qualification), or a Level 1 equivalent. Please note, you will also be required to undertake an initial assessment prior to enrolment in order to assess your current level of English and maths. Your interviewer will discuss with you what minimum level you will need to achieve at initial assessment. PROGRESSION With experience, you could:  become a senior stylist, barber or salon manager  open your own salon or barbershop  get qualified to train or assess student hairdressers or barbers  work freelance and rent space in a salon  use your skills as a hair professional in the theatre, film or television industry.
