in line with SR:50 requirements. This information provides the heat load requirement for each room and helps to prove compliance with Part L of the building regulations and calculate the heat pump output, the hot water demands and underfloor heating and/or radiators for the property. Once heat loss calculations are finalised and the heat load for each room within the property is known, correctly sized heating technologies are specified for the property. This includes the highly efficient Grant Aerona 3 R32 air to water air source heat pump range, which has an ErP rating of A+++ and is available in outputs of 6kW, 10kW, 13kW and 17kW. Air source heat pumps are an increasingly popular choice for new-build and retrofit projects because they provide compliance and an energy-efficient, sustainable and cost- effective way to heat a property.

if external temperatures were to drop as low as -20°, the heat pump’s output will modulate up or down depending on the exact climate conditions, to ensure ultimate energy efficiency. As the Aerona 3 R32 air to water air source heat pump can run at both high and low temperatures it can work in tandem with other technologies featured within Grant’s diverse product offering, including the Uflex underfloor heating system. As part of the home heating design service, Grant will also design underfloor heating requirements for those rooms selected to use this type of heat emitter. When working together, the Aerona 3 heat pump and Uflex underfloor heating will improve the overall efficiency of a new-build or retrofit property, as both technologies can run at lower temperatures, enabling savings to be made. The Grant Aerona 3 R32 13kW and 17kW models have also been recognised by Quiet Mark for their quiet operation. Quiet Mark is the international award programme validating and awarding low- noise, high-performance technologies, helping to deliver solutions to overcome noise pollution throughout the world.

Those working on new-build or retrofit projects where a heat pump is required, can avail of Grant’s free-of-charge home heating design service in three easy steps: 1. Send planning drawings, a contact phone number and preference of heat emitters to heatpump@grantengineering.ie 2. A member of the Grant technical team will be in touch with you to discuss requirements. 3. You will receive full property specifications with recommended Grant products.
