COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Organizational Leadership 210 The Leader and Wor1dview (2) An introduction 10 integration of faith , learning and living for a more accurate understanding of reality. The course emphasizes Christian thinking and analysis of both issues and solutions that are workable, intellectually viable and consistent with biblical truth. Stu­ dents examine group and organiza­ tional behavior case studies that demonstrate the methods and difficul­ ties of integration and application. 240 Foundations of Lifelong Leaming (2) Consideration of life development the­ ory/ career panems and_future trends as foundations for lifelong learning. Spe­ cific emphasis will be placed upon analy­ sis of experiential learning outcomes. 290 Practicum (1-8) Portfolio-based assessment of college­ level technical and professional train­ ing that reflects theory, data collec­ tion and analysis , and application such that it advances student mastery of the principles and practices of orga­ nizational leadership. 310 The Leader and Wisdom (2) This course examines biblical concepts related to human relationships and interpersonal communication. Atten­ tion is given to human beings as designed and created by God, the con­ sequences of the fall, and the impact of redemption. Case studies and stu­ dent experiences are discussed. 330 Theology and the Christian Life (3) A consideration of God's Person, existing as one God, yet manifested in three Persons , and the believer's responsibility to the Church, Christ's body, and the world at large as an agent of reconciliation in God's king­ dom program in the end times. 340 Groop and Organizational Behavior (3) A study of group behavior and how groups function effectively. Emphasis is placed on group decision making and conflict resolution. Strategies are developed for determining which tasks should be handled by groups or individuals, and for increasing effi­ cient and productive group manage­ menL The Senior Project is begun in week three of this module. Fee: $183. 350 Management Information Systems (3) Students become acquainted with con­ temporary information ~ms technol­ ogy, and explore management tech­ niques and strategies which, combined with technologies, produce effective solu-

450 Organizational Ethics (3) The capstone course in which the stu­ dent formulates a philosophy of life, providing the base for such concerns as ethics in organizations, accountabil­ ity in government, respect for human rights, and a responsible lifestyle in our contemporary world. Ethical theo­ ries and personal values are examined through readings, analysis of the work place and classroom discussion. 470 Senior Project I (3) The student is assisted in selecting a topic, the use of a computerized data base, research techniques and writing. Emphasis is on the integration of bibli- cal and other sources in research which is related to a specific issue, problem or opponunity. Neither this course nor ORLD 480 is applicable toward gradua- tion unless both have been completed. 480 Senior Project II (2) This final ponion of the Senior Pro­ ject gives the student opportunity to write a document detailing the con­ clusions and recommendations. Nei­ ther this course nor ORLD 470 is applicable toward graduation unless both have been completed. Students are shown methods for defining, researching, ana­ lyzing, and evaluating problems they would solve in their work environmenL Specific statistical information cmered in the course includes identifying and mea­ suring objectives, collecting data, working with significance levels, analyzing vari­ ance, and constructing questionnaires. 370 Interpersonal Communication (3) Study of how communication and rela­ tionships contribute to productive work environments. Effective personal and social relationships are also investi­ gated through readings and exercises concerning non-verbal feedback, anger management, and conflict resolution. 380 Managerial Accounting (3) An overview of financial tools avail­ able for management decision-mak­ ing. Major course components include income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, budgets, changes in financial position and ratio analysis. Emphasis is on reading and under­ standing accounting documents rather than upon their preparation. 390 Independent Study (1-8) Portfolio-based assessment of advanced college-level technical and professional training that reflects the-

ory, data collection and analysis, and application such that it advances stu­ dent mastery of the principles and practices of organizational leadership. 41 0 The Leader and Decision Making (2) This course examines biblical princi­ ples and ethical values related to orga­ nizational leadership. Fundamental moral principles and cultural expres­ sions are analyzed and the biblical basis for values and morality is studied. Case studies emphasize the relation­ ship of God and man in regard to pro­ fessional and personal ethical choices. 430 Human Resource Management (3) Students will explore the key elements of the human resource management function from personnel planning and forecasting through the search and selection process, compensation, orien­ tation, performance evaluation, training and degree, corrective action programs and termination. Specific anention will be given as to how biblical principles impacting relationships with people should be interwoven throughout the human resource management process. 440 Principles of Management and Supeivision (4) Students will study the nature of man­ agement principles and their applica­ tion through the use of biblical con­ cepts. Motivational theory and applica­ tion, leadership qualities and styles and negotiation will receive special attention.
