A check was written, migrant workers hired, and a museum rose from the volcanic mudflats of X. Ticket sales have been sluggish.

The square-riggerish IAC Building is Frank Gehry’s only work inspired by a Monty Python song. “As a boy growing up in landlocked Albania, I always wondered: What did happen to the accountant’s’ office when it sailed off the edge of the Earth in ‘Accountancy Shanty’? Was it smashed to bits? Did it disappear into a void?” Gehry mused. “I like to believe that it landed on a desolate, sandy plain, a vision I’m so glad IAC shares.” Gehry is currently working on an architectural adaptation of that scene in The Meaning of Life when the fat man explodes.

Definitely lost a star there guyz! ) But after that, it was TRES PARFAIT. Believe the hype...this is where the stars come out and play !! Coco got a gross skin rash and refused to leave her room. I was like, “Coco, it’s not that bad!” But it was. Sry for the TMI. (PS: DON’T DRINK THE TAP WATER! minus one more star). It sort of went downhill from there for the Cokester. Books of Wonder’s claim to fame is that it was the model for the bookstore in the 1997 film You’ve Got Mail . Nora and Delia Ephron, who wrote the film, were both longtime customers and friends of the store—and Meg Ryan spent a day working at the shop to prepare for her role in the film. In 1985, Books of Wonder established a joint imprint with William Morrow and Company, publishing its own children’s books. Its standing-room-only events have included celebrated authors like J. K. Rowling, Madeleine L’Engle, Maurice Sendak, and Eric Carle.

Posman Books sell books at three locations in New York City and is family- owned. This location, inside Grand Central Station, closed in 2014 much to the sadness of many a busy commuter. A new location opened on Wall Street not long after. It was voted Best Bookstore in 2012 by New York magazine.

In 1985 Rizzoli dodged a wrecking ball at the eleventh hour by being designated a landmark. The century-plus-old iconic building wasn’t as lucky the second time the wrecking ball reared its ugly head, in 2014. The Fifty-Seventh Street Rizzoli Bookstore in Midtown Manhattan closed in 2014 after being open for fifty years. It reopened in the spring of 2015 in New York City’s NoMad neighborhood.

St. Mark’s Bookshop was established in New York City’s East Village in 1977 and moved four times within the neighborhood, finally closing in 2016.
