Probat ion stu­ dents are granted one semester in which to br.i ng thei r academic work up to the reqwred level (3 .0) for con tinuance in the seminary. A student cannot graduate while on proba tion. EMPHASES REQUIREMENTS PROGRAM STRUCTURE The academic programs lead ing to the degree Master of Arts with emphases in Bible Exposition, New Testament, Old Testament, Theology, Philosophy of Religion and Ethics, Specialized Ministries, Women's Ministries, Youth Ministries and Bib lical and Theological Stud1es-D1versified are comprised of 64-66 units structured in common to include 1) biblical and theological foundations, 2) academic specialization in one of four dis­ ciplines requiring bibli cal language stud­ ies, or general studies in which biblical lan­ guages are not required, and 3) additi onal elective courses determined by the student m consultation with the advisor. PROGRAM REDUCTION BASED ON PRIOR ACADEMIC STUDY Applicants who have taken undergrad­ uate courses in biblical or theological stud­ ies may request a program reduction based on collegiate work. An evaluati on wi ll be made by the registrar's office fol­ lowing establi shed guidelines to deter­ min e competency withi n the fo llowing penmeters: 1) undergraduate biblical studies which are parallel in content with required courses and 2) undergraduate biblical studi es which may justify a reduc­ tion in elective units. To qualify for such reductions the stud ent must have earned a "B" grade in specific course(s) and be able to demonstrate competency in the subject matter.

OBJECTIVES The Master of Arts degree, with emphases in Bible Exposition, New Testament, O ld Testament, Theology, Philosophy of Religion and Ethics, Specialized Ministries, Women's Ministries, Youth Ministries and Biblical and Theological Studies-Diversified (non­ language), has been developed for those whose calling to Christian service is to positions of leadership for which the Master of Divinity or other professional degrees are not normally required. It is structured to provide: 1. An understanding of Scriptures for students anticipating Christian ministries that wou ld include church administrators, parachurch organization leadership, coun­ selors, "tent-making" occupations in o ther cultures, lay leaders in the local church and others. 2. A biblical background for those who are preparing for teaching in non-theologi­ cal fields. 3. An academic background for those who find the Master of Arts degree ample for a teachmg position either at home or in a foreign country. 4. A program of study for missionaries who have on ly a brief furlough time in which to pursue formal study o f the Scriptures. 5. Sustainable skills in specific min­ istries further developing your abilities and spiritual gifs, and strengthening your areas of weakness ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Applicants must possess a baccalaure­ ate degree. Each should be a graduate from a recognized or accredited college with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). All app li cants must submit a written statement ou tlining their vocational objec­ tives and how the degree might relate to those objectives. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS A.Satisfactorily complete 64-66 semester units as outlined in the curricu­ lum charts below. B. Submit an acceptable thesis chosen in consultation with the major ad~isor, or at the option of the major advisor and in li eu of the thesis, complete four additio nal units of electives.
