OBJECTIVES To provide students the opportunity to learn, exercise and refine skills to enhance their chances for a successful coll ege expe­ rience. To stimulate personal awareness and responsibility in the learning experi­ ence enhancing each student's ownership of his/ her education. Specifically, the courses will facilitate student growth in: 1) broadly educating in the arts and sci­ ences; 2) providing fundamental skills necessary for competence in a major; 3) increasing knowledge in biblical studies by integrating faith and learning. COURSES GNLA 001 COLLEGE STUDY SKILLS (0) Instruction in effective study tech­ niques and reading skills. Emphasis on the incorporation of skills with current academic work. GNUL 100 UNIVERSITY LIFE (1) An introduction to basic issues con­ fronting university students . Includes dis­ cussion of interpersonal relations, skills for academic success, and the integration of Christian faith and learning. Required fo r all freshmen during their first semester at Biola. Not counted toward total num­ ber of units for graduate. GNRC 300 WRITING COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT (0) Before graduation every student is required to fulfill the Writing Competency Requirement . This requirement measures a studen t 's ability to write clear and cor­ rect Engli sh prose; it also tests whether a stud ent can write according to the conven­ tions of his or her field of study. Each department offers its own variant of the Requirement, and students must fulfill the Requirement given in their majors. Usually, a department offers its Writing Competency Requirement as part of one or more of its upper-division cours­ es. Students should consult with their advisors about the specifics of the Requirement in their majors. Once a student achieves junior status he or she is eligible to fulfill the Writing Compe­ tency Requirement; however, it would be wise to discuss the Requirement with one's advisor in advance of the junior year. After a student has fu lfill ed the Requirement, cred it will be registered on the student's transcript. A student who

The School of Continuing Studies offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership designed for the working adult. The degree in Organizational Leadership is an interdisciplinary major including the fields of Business, Communication, Psychology and Biblical Studies. ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE The Engli sh Language Institute is offered to Christian students from all countries of th e world. The Engli sh Language Institute is an intensive English program des igned to develop students' proficiency in the English language and to he lp them achieve the ir degree at Biola. Degree Completion Program OBJECTIVES Biola University, through the School of Continuing Studies, offers a major in Organizational Leadership to adult stu­ dents who are returning to complete their und ergraduate degree. The O rganizational Leadership major offers students upper-division course work design ed especially for adults who wish to earn a degree while working fu ll time. Course work is aimed at develop­ ment of ski ll s in human relations and management to work more effectively as manage rs and in other roles. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS An applicant to the Organ izational Leadership program must be at least 25 years of age and have 60 semester hours of transferable coll ege credit from accredited institutions.
