Feel the inflow of His Spirit, Gain assurance He .does care, Know the peace that passeth knowledge, Win the victory—through prayer. —Selected. Another's Praise “Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips” (Prov. 27:2). Self-praise is no recommendation. A man’s praise smells sweet when it comes out of other men’s mouths, but in his own it stinks . . . Good men know themselves too well to chant their own praises. Barges without cargoes float high on the canal, but the fuller they are, the lower they sink . . . When men are really excellent, people find it out without telling.—John Ploughman. Cloud and Fire “In the daytime .». . he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire” (Psa. 78:14). My day is my prosperity; it is the time when the sun of fortune is bright above me; therefore, it is the time when I need a shade. If my sunshine were not checkered I would forget Thee, O my God .’ . . The night is my adversity; it is the time when the sun of fortune has gone down behind the hillS and I am left alone; and then it is, O my Father, that I need the light of Thy fire!—George Matheson. (2 Cor. 5 :2 0 ). The Envoys M ale Q u a r te t Representing Christ and the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, the Envoys Male Quartet set forth from Biola on the morning of June 6 for a full three-months’ tour of the United States and Canada holding services in Van couver, B. • C., Chicago, New York, Miami, etc., and returning to Los An geles by way of the southern states. The tour is being taken in an effort to reach many for Christ and to chal lenge young people with the threefold theme: “Prepare—for eternity, for vic torious Christian living, and* for Chris tian service.” 16. 17. “ Ambassadors for Christ ”

12. Absolution “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more’’ (John 8:11). When you come into the presence of Jesus Christ, you need not mind being convicted of sin, because His absolution does absolve, because His word of pardon is with power, and because—oh, listen to this, child of God, and learn the im port of it—wrapped up in every absolu tion Jesus gives there is the promise of a walk that shall please God. You may accept His forgiveness with con-' fidence.—F. S. Webster. 13. Tomorrow’s Care , “Take no thought” (Lk. 12:22). What does your anxiety do? It does not empty tomorrow, brother, qf its sorrows; but, ah! it empties today of its strength. It does not enable you to escape the evil; it makes you unfit to cope with it when it comes . . . The present has enough to do with its own proper concerns. We have always strength to bear the evil when it comes. We have not strength to bear the fore boding of it.—Alexander Maclaren. 14. One Who Never Fails “Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast, laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the works of thine hands . . . And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail” (Heb. 1:10, 12). How changeful is human life! Fam ilies are broken up. Friendships are severed. Individuals perish. Even con tinents grow old. Planets fade and die. What means the sudden paling of a star in the sky? Perhaps it is a world in its hour of dissolution. Our earth will grow old some time and will no longer be capable of sustaining life. But there is One whose years do not fail. He is the Ancient of Days, the Eternal God.—C. C. Albertson. 15. Through Prayer “In every thing by prayer and suppli cation with thanksgiving let your re quests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all under standing, shall \keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:6, 7). When anxiou§ fears beset us, And the clouds are hovering low, When a haze obscures the future, And the path we do not know, When the heart is burdened, breaking, With the load already there, What a glorious, blessed privilege To surmount the test—through prayer. Reach out by faith and touch Him, Find new strength and solace true, Lift our eyes above the problem To the power that will endue.
