BE 741 Issues in Biblical Exposition (2) Aseminar focusi ng on selected tech- nical and practi cal issues in the field of biblical exposition. Prerequisite: BE 726. BE 743 Biblical Geography (2) Apresentation of the culmral develop- melll of the Holy Land and nations of the Fertile Crescent in relation Lo Israel , the strategic location of the Holy Land, the climate and LOpography, and the location of important place names. Elective for Th.M. students; others by deparunental pennission. BE 801 Parables (2) Asurvey of the parables in the Bible with special emphasis on the parables of Chri st, rules governing their inter- pretation and thei r dispensational import and application in modern preaching. Elective for Th .M. smdents; others by departmental pennission. BE 802 Miracles (2) Astudyof tl1e miracles of Christ, their selling, interpretation, dispensational significance and appli cation in modern preaching. BE 805 Biblical Chronology (2) A survey of problems in chronology throughou t Scrip ture with specia l emphasis given Lo more crucial areas, such as Genesis I, th e judges and the kings, and mauers relating LO Christ. BE 807 Exposition of Central Prophetic Passages (2) Aspecial concentration on exposition of selected prophecies with regard Lo culture , views and the integration of the passages with an overall biblical picture. BE 842 The Use of the Old Testament in the New (2) Aseminar concentrating on the ph e- nomena, interpretation, and significance of selected Old Testament quotations and allusions found in the New Testa- ment. Prerequisites: NT 604, OT 604. BE 880 Oirected Research (1 -4) Supen1sed research in selected areas of Biblical studies. Elective for Th.M. students. BE 891-892 Research Seminar (3,2) Discussion and application of the cen- tral areas of Bible Exposition research and related fields of study. Instruction in research, including the identification of a problem, the steps undertaken LO resolve a probl em, an d writing the results. Required for the first semester of the Th.M. (B.E.) program. Asecond semester may be taken Lo continue research in the area of interest.

BE 530 Elementary Principles of the Biblical Languages (3) Basic principles of language that are foundational to imerpreting the bibli- cal text. Overview of the structure of the biblical languages, evaluation of theories of Bible translation , and instruction in the use of various tools based on the original languages. The course will aid the student in under- standing issues that arise in interpreta- tion because of the origin al languages. Required of M.A. (B/ TS) students. BE 602 Genesis {2) An exposition , with an emphasis on important critical and comemporary issues, and biblical theology, especially the Abrahamic Covenan t. Elective BE 608 Matthew (2) An expos ition, emphas izing back- ground issues, purpose , structure , and imerpreLation of narrative litera- ture. Elective BE 610 Romans (2) An ex position , emphasizing back- grou nd issues, purpose , structure, development of the argument , and theological contributions. Elective. BE 722 Directed Research (1-2) Guided research in some bibli cal area re lating to exposition, according to the student 's need and relevancy to ministry. Elective. BE 725 Messianic Prophecy (2) Selected major Messianic prophecies in their progressive unfolding in th e Old Testamen t and fulfillment in the New Testament. Prerequi site: BE 519, 520. Elw ive. BE 726 Expositional Methodology in Daniel and Revelation (3) Application of exposi tional method to selected passages from Dani el and Rev- elation . Discussion of crucial back- ground and critical issues, book SU'uc- Lures, illlerpretive difficulties, practical implications and various approaches to expounding the text of each book. Whi le the entire seminary curricu- lum contributes to the exposition of Scr ipwre, it is the purpose of this department: I ) to focus on founda- tional principles and procedures of sound Bible study, especially interpre- ta tion and application ; 2) to overview and survey the Old and New Testa- ments lo es tabli sh a wider bib lical frame of reference; and 3) to swdy in depth selected bibli cal books and sub- jects, modeling expository methodol- ogy and preparing studems for effec- tive expository ministry. Key introduc- tory and critical issues deal ing with both Old and New Testamen ts wi ll also be treated , as we ll as relevant data from the original languages. COURSES BE 517 Hermeneutics and Bible Study Methods (3) A study of principles for sound illler- pretation and appl ication of the Bibl e, including analysis of presuppositions, gene ral rules and specialized princi- ples for the various biblical genre and phenomena. A presentation of vari- ous approaches to studying the Bible. Required of M.Div. and M.A. students. BE 519 Survey of Genesis-Malachi (3) A broad survey of the Old Testament books, includi ng selected introductory and cri tical iss ues, rel eva nt back- ground, major themes and division s, and crucial problems.
