CE 633 Principles of Research (2) Basic methods of educational research with assessment of each method for use in religious education. Introduction to statistical measurements. Formulation and implementation of research projects in minisuy siruations. One hour lecture and one hour laboratory required per week. Required of all M.A.C.E. sn1dents. CE 636-637 Independent Study (1·2, 1·2) In-depth investigation of a topic under the guidance of th e Christian education department usi ng standard research procedures. Topic selection and course enrollment is by advisor's approval. Elective. CE 638 Current Trends in Christian Edu· cation (2) Identifyi ng and understanding those issues which are of prima1y concern to the field of Christian education today. Uses of the com- puter, print, aud io, video, mixed media and multimedia technology for promotion , education and motivation. CE 661 Adolescent Culture and Development (3) Finding and meeting adolescent needs, writing objectives for youth minisuy, leadership of learning experiences and outreach experiences, disciple-building and review of available resources. CE 662 Youth Education and Leadership (3) Emphasis on the leadership role in the local church, coll ege campuses and mis- sion field. CE 675 Family Lile Education in the Local Church (3) Objectives, organization and adminis- tration of a program of family life edu- cation in the local church. CE 681 Development of Youth Speaker Skills (2) Emphasis on the package of skills neces- sary to become an effec tive youth speaker. Includes the ,,arious types of speaking such as; evangelistic, discipling, teaching, preaching, testimony, story· telling and more. Class will enable the student to evaluate his/ her potential for thisarea of ministry and to sharpen those skills during the semester. Elective. CE 683 Camp Leadership (2) The philosophy, objectives, administra- ti on, program and leadership of a church-related camp. The use of wor- ship, study, crafts, recreation and coun- seling in church camping. Investigation into trends of camping, centralized and decentralized camping. Techniques in planning and directing a camp pro· gram , including counselor training. Elective. Offered spring, even years. CE 691 Practicum in Ministry I (1) Structured field experience in a C.E. ministry field site with an approved supervisor focusing on the develop- ment of students' spiritual gifts and personal skills appl ied to teaching the Bible. Required of the M.A.C.E. and M.A. Min. Fee: $50. CE 692 Practicum in Ministry II (1) Structured experiences in a C.E. min- isll)' field site with an approved supm>i- sor focusing on leadership develop- ment including assessing needs, setting goals, planning strategy, implementing programs and evaluating programs. Course may be repeated. Required of the M.A.C.E. and M.A. Min. CE 696 Marriage and Family Internship (1) Directed experience in preparation, enrichment, equipping and remedial ministries in se lec ted churches. Required of M.A. (M.F.M.) majors in their first spring semester. CE 697 Marriage and Family Internship (1) Directed experience in preparation , enrichment , equipping and remedial ministries in se lec ted chur ches. Required of M.A. (M.F.M.) majors in their last fall semester. The prerequi- site is CE 696. CE 698 Advanced Marriage and Family Internship (2) Directed experience in preparation, enrichment, equipping and remedial ministries in selected churches. Required of M.A. (M.F.M.) majors in their last spring semester. The pre- requisites are CE 696 and 697.

CE 716 Ministry to Single Adults (2) Investigation of single adult ministries in the context of the local church. Emphasis in the development of an effective single adult ministry. Various proven and experimental models of sin- gle adult ministries will be examined. Elective. Offered spring, even years.CE 722 Counseling Troubled Families (3) Acomparison of positive and negative family systems in Scripture, in theory and in church life. enrichment and equipping for ministry to fami li es. Prerequisite: CE 603, 628 and 675 or their equivalents. Required of M.A. (M.F.M.) students. Elective.

CE 724 Advanced Methods of Educational Instruction (2)

Considera ti on given to the various philosophies of education, theories of learning, and the factors that innu- ence learning. Emphasis given to becoming a more effective teacher. Variabl es in motivation, retention , transfer and high level thinking will be discussed. Asupervised classroom teaching experience is required. Pre- requisite: CE 461 or its equivalent, or by permission of the professor. Required of Th.M. and M.A.C.E. stu- dents. Offered spring semester. CE 791-792 Educational Practicum (2 , 2) Directed experiences in educational ministries conducted through a local church. Praxis in leadersh ip for major educational functions for vari- ous age levels. A minimum of I00 hours fi eld involvement per semester. Prerequisite: 48 units of class work . Required of, and limited to, M.Div. students majoring in C.E.

The place of music in the church 's pro- gram. Criteria for the selection of appropriate music. Techniques for lead- ing music and teaching various groups. The relationship of music to worship, instruction and fe llowship. Elective. CE 648 Current Trends in Youth Ministry (2) Emphasis on trends and issues related to life on a contemporary junior high or high school public school campus. Includes principles for development of relationships between the yo uth minister and local school admi nistra- tors wh ich will enable both to fun c- tion effectively. Also contains princi- ples for blending students from pub- lic, parochial and Christian campuses into your youth group. Elective.
