TH 61OAdvanced Theology (3) An in-depth study of the major theo- logical issues in the areas of bibliology, theology proper, an thropology, hamartiology, soteriology. This course is specifically designed for those stu- dents who receive reduction in theol- ogy due to prior studies. Required of M.Div. and M.A. students who are not required to take TH 502 and TH 603. TH 700 The Doctrine of God (2) Advanced study of the reality, attrib- utes and Triune nature of God. Includ es discussion of the human knowledge and the nature of encounter with God. Prerequisite: TH 502. Elective. TH 702 Advanced Bibliology (2) Intensive study of revelation, inspira- tion, inerrancy and au thority in the light of contemporary issues. Prereq- uisite: TH 502. Elective. TH 707 Roman Catholic Theology (2) A detailed study of the tenets of Roman Catholicism ; reading from representative Roman Catholic litera- ture; particular attention given to the distinctions between Roman Catholic and Protestant doctrines. Especially helpful for those contemplati ng mis- sionary service in countries dominated by Roman Catholicism. Elective. TH 709 Contemporary Theology (2) The study of contemporary theologi- cal positions, including a survey of the philosophical and theological thought leadin g up to the present scene. Req uired of M.A. (Th. ) and Th.M. (SystematicTheology) students. TH 71 OPneumatology (2) The person and work of the Holy Spirit both in the Old and New Testa- ments with particular attention to His ministries in this age to the individual believer and the church. Prerequisite: NT 501-502. Elective. TH 712 Current Theological Issues (2) An intensive study of the thought of particular contemporary theologians, prominent theological or theologi- cally significant ethical issues in the light of biblical revelation. Elective. TH 717 Theology of Human Nature (2) Exploration of key areas relating to the nature of man from both a theological and psychological perspective; the bilr lical nature of man in comparison to teaching theories of human develop- ment. TH 740 The Doctrine of the Atonement (2) A study of the bibli cal meaning and sign ifi cance of the atoning work of Christ including a survey of the signifi- cant historical imerpretations of the doctrine . Elective. TH 751 Theology of Mission (3) An introduction to theology of mi s- sions that focuses on the biblical basis for mission. This study seeks to exam- ine the motives, aims and methods of mission from both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament. TH 761 Directed Study (1-4) Supervised reading and research in selected areas of systematic theology. Elective. TH 771 Theology Seminar (1-4) The study of selected areas of system- atic or biblical th eology. May be repeated for credit with different con- tent. Elective. TH 802 Millennial Views (2) Acareful and intensive study.of the three main eschatological 11ews relative to the millennium; the historical and biblical strength of the premillennial system; consideration of the leading ami llennial writings. Adetailed analysis of the four positions relative to the time of the rap- ture; a biblical and theological defense of the pretribulational view,with exegesis of cmcial passages of Scripture. Prerequi- site: TH 604. Elective for Th.M. students; others by departmental pennission. TH 806 Theology Seminar (1-4) Selected problems in the fields of sys- temat ic or biblical theology. Elective for Th.M. students; others by depart- mental permission. TH 81OJohannine Theology (2) The theology of theJohannine writings, 1vith emphasis upon the concepts that the writer himself emphasizes. Prereq- uisite: NT 50 1-502. Elective for Th.M. students; others by departmental per- mission. (Cross listed with NT 823). TH 815 Advanced Ecclesiology (2) An intensive study of sign ifi cant aspects of the church related to its nature, purpose and organization. Particular attention directed to cur- rent problem areas. Prerequisite: TH 604 or the equivalem in ecclesiology. Elective for Th.M. students; others by departmental permission.

FACULTY Professors: Holloman, Moreland, Saucy Associate Professor: Rae Assistant Professor: Gomes OBJECTIVES It is the purpose of the emphasis of theology to give the student a thorough grasp of the great doctrines of the Christian faith. Based upon the Scrip- ture as the ultimate source of authority the doctrines are developed through the systematic examination and integra- tion of relevant Scriptures with consid- eration given to doctrinal interpreta- tions throughout church history. Along with the acquisition of a knowl- edge of the theological doctrines of the Scriptures, it is the goal of the depart- ment to develop in the students a facil- ity which will allow them to continue their own theological development. COURSES TH 501 Theology of the Christian Lile (3) Study of the doctrines pertaining to the experiential living of the Christian life, including the personal spiritual life , family life , and citi zensh ip. Required of M.Div. and M.A students TH 502 Theology I (3) The nature, method and rationale of Christian theology. Reve lation , both general and special , inspiration, canonicity, authority and illumination of the Word of God. The doctrine of God, including His existence , attrib- utes and Trinitarian nature ; and angels, both good and evil. Required of M.Div. and M.A. students. TH 603 Theology II (3) Man, his creation in the image of God, his nature, fall and the effect of sin upon the race. The salvation of God, includ- ing the person and work of Christ. The application of salvation to men includ- ing election, regeneration, justification, sanctification and perseverance. Required of M.Div. and MA. students. TH 604 Theology Ill (3) A study of the broad kingdom purpose of God and the future events relating to the destiny of individuals and history including the second com- ing of Chri st in its phases , the mil- lenial reign of Christ, the resurrec- tions, the judgments and eternal state. The church , its inception, its nature both as a living organism and an orga- nization , its ordinances, and its place and mission in the purpose of God. Required ofM.Div. and M.A. students.

Considera- tion of the nature of personal trans- formation in regeneration, the means and dynamics of nurture including the relation of cogn iti ve and rela- ti ona l aspects. Examination of the nature of spiritual maturity and its relation to psychological maturity and hindrances to growth. Team taught by faculty with strength in theology and psychology. Prerequisite: TH 603 or equivalent. Required of reduced M.A.C.E. students. Elective. TH 720 The Theology and Practice of Prayer (2) A study of the biblical theology of prayer including its meaning, purpose and practice. Elective. TH 724 Eschatological Problems (2) Typical exegetical and doctrinal prolr !ems in the area of Bible prophecy. Lectures, assigned problems with writ- ten and classroom reports, discussion and library research . Elective. TH 725 The Dispensational System (2) An in tensive study of that system of biblical interpretation known as dis- pensationalism; its historical back- ground, modern form and objections. Emphasizing primary theological and exegetical issues or disagreement between dispensational and non-dis-
pensational positions. Elective. TH 728 Theological Systems (2)
Several major theological systems of thought emphasizing those within the Protestant perspect ive, but also including significant Roman Catholic and Jewish systems. Elective. TH 729 The Theology of the Gospels (2) An exami nation of the th eo logical teaching ofJesusas recorded in the four Gospel narratives. Special attention is paid to the chronological development of themes taught by Christ in the light of His presentation and rejection. (Cross listed with NT 729). Elective.
