371 Evangelism and Discipleship (3) An ovmiew of the biblical principles of evangeli sm and discipleship. The class wi ll seek to develop the ski lls of personal e1·angelism and explore biblical teach- ing regard ing discipleship; including personal requirements , objectives, essential components and applications to the local chu rch and parachurch agencies. Prerequisite: 251. 372 Christian Education of Children (3) Discovery and evaluation of methods and ma1e1ials approp1iate for achie1ing learning objectives which meet the phys-- ical, mental , social, emotional and spi1i- tual needs of children (birth through grade six.) Students maychoose 373 or 374. Prerequisites: 150,261. 373 Christian Education of Youth (3) Exam ination of the ado lescen t in our rnlture with emphasis upon designing a ministry to th is age level within the context of the local church and para- church agencies. Discovery of the uniqueness of adult learning and investigation of design, cur- rirnla, methods, and implementation of educational programs for the church and other agencies. Prerequisites: 150, 261. 380 Ministry Planning and Development (3) Personal and interactive evaluation of the student's calling to Christian min- istrl', in cluding character, gi fts, inter- ests, and abilities. Assessment of role expecta- tion , rela ti onships and vocational opportunities. Prerequisite: 150. 415 Organization and Administration of Christian Education (3) An introduction to the biblical, histor- ical , and current practice of manage- ment: planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and evaluating with special emphasis upon the appl ication of these funct ions to church and para- church administration. Prerequisites: 150, 25 1, 260 , 380. 416 Curriculum Development (2) Essen tial elements in curriculum for- mat ion includin g intensive study of va ri ed existi ng curricula, contempo- rary tends in curriculum production and curriculum wri ting experience. Offered spring semester. Prerequi- site: one of the age level courses: 372, 373 or 374. 417 Practice Bible Teaching (2) Sk ill development in Bible teach ing, with particular emphasis upon lesson preparation and evaluation of lessons practice taught in class. Offered fall semester. Prerequisite: 252. 422 Singles Ministries in the Church (2) Issues and needs of never-married and forme rly married persons, including identity crisis, role definition, se lf- acceptance and the development of intimacy. Resources, programs and skill s for mini stering to these needs are emph asized. Offered sp rin g semester, altern ate years. 423 Counseling Theories and Issues for the Christian Worker (3) In troductory investigatio,n of selected coun seling theories employed by staff members of church and parachurch agencies. The examination of each theory will include: hi storical back- grou nd , basic co nce pts, process , mechani sms, case examples, evalua- tion and application to specific coun- se ling issues. Offered spring semes- ter, alternate years.

424 Techniques of Counseling for Use in the Church (2) Distinctives of counselors in a church or parachurch agency, their qualifica- tion and necessary counseling tech- niques. Special em phasis wi ll be placed upon the student's develop- ment through experiential practice of "people-helping skill s" from a Chris t- ian perspective. Offe red spring semester. Prerequisite: 423. 428 Family Ministries in the Church (2) Biblical concepts of the fam ily; sun•ey of the needs of whole and fragmented families in th e ch urch; resources and techniques available to meet these needs. Offered spring semester. 461 Vocational Practicum I (2) Structured experiences in teaching the Bible in a field setti ng with a selected age group. Lesson prepara- tion , execution and evaluation will be emphasized. Christian education majors only. Prerequisites: 380, 260.

462 Vocational Practicum II (2) Structural experiences in the supenision of a limited educational minist1)' pro- gram in a selected vocational setting. The emphasis of this semester 11ill be on personal leadership development. The cl ass 11ill seek to utilize all the student's knowledge, atti tudes, and skills in the fu l- fillment of a 1iable minisu,, of Ch1i stian education. For tl1e Chiistian education majors only. Prerequisites: 380, 461. 475 Ministry to Families (2) An overview of th e bibli cal teachi ng about marri age , famil y, and parent- ing. The life cycle of the fam ilywill be examined with an emphasis given to constructing a mini stry model fo r fam- ilies in various stages of development. 480 Independent Study in Christian Education (1-3) Development of skill in independent study of topics in the field of Christian education. Offered both semesters. Prerequisite: Se ni or level Christ ian education majors onl y and depart- mental approval. May be repeated.
