Stu- dents who repeal courses for the pur- pose of raising their GPA must adhere Lo the Un iversity 's genera l policy for grades, as spelled out in the graduate program catalog. Candidates for the Th.M. degree shou ld also mani fes t promise of usefulness in Christian min- isll)', exhibit exemplary and consistent Christian character and e,1dence sound theological beliefs in accordance with the un iversity' s doctrinal sta tement. Additional requirements are as fo ll ows: A. Residence Requirements A minimum of two semesters in residence at Talbot is required for the Th.M. degree. B. · Transfer Credit No more than four advanced graduate semester course un its from an accredited seminary or theological school will be accepted toward fulfi ll - ment ofTh.M. course requirements. C. Time Limit for Degree All course, examination, and the- sis requirements must be completed withi n five years , beginn ing on the date of the sLUdent 's first registration for Th.M. courses al Talbot. 0. Major Areas of Academic Study Majors in the Th.M. program are offered in the fo llowing areas: ■ Bible Exposition: The major in Bible exposition is designed for students who want advanced trai n- ing in English Bible with an emphasis on preaching and com- municating the text of Scri pture. Students may take elective credit in the area of Practical Theology. ■ Nt11v Testament: For students want- ing to do advanced work in the history, language, theology, and exegesis of the New Testament. T 812 The World of the New Testament is requi red. ■ Old Testament and Semitics: For stu- dents wanting LO do advanced work in the hi story, archaeology, language, theology, and exegesis of the Old Testament. ■ Missions and Intercu/Jural Studies: For students whowant to empha- size the biblical theology of missions

All applicants are required to submit a Personal Statement of one to two dou- ble spaced typewritten pages expressing their career goals and personal objectives in seeking theTh.M. degree. This request should indicate any changes in marital status or doc- trinal convictions since enrollment in the Master of Divinity degree. In add ition, appl icants shoul d signify their intention LO abide by the Stan- dards of Conduct of Biola University. Talbot Master of Divinity students who have completed 80 or more units, and whose current cumulative GPA is 3.25 or above may be granted a con- current enro llment option. OBJECTIVES
The Master of Theology curricu- lum is a chall enging post-graduate degree program designed to equip stu- dents with speciali zed academic knowl- edge and advanced professional skills in one of the theological discipl ines.. The program is of special interest LO students who aspire 10 teach - whether in the church, a Bible college or semina.ry, an extension center, or in a cross-cultura l seuing. This is in accord with both A.T.S. (the Associa- tion of Theologica l Schools) and A.A.B.C. (the American Association of Bible Coll eges) wh ich conside r the Th.M. degree the mi nimum educa- tional credential for teaching bibli cal and theological subjects at accredited seminaries and Bible schools. The pro- gram also pro,1des an excellent prepa- ration for those who anticipate further study at the Ph .D. andTh.D. leve l. Qualified swdents aspiring to excel- lence and leadership in many areas of minisll)' and sef\1ce for Christ find the Th.M. program personal ly enriching and academically stimulating. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The student must present accept- able Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor or Master of Divinity degrees. Specifi- cally they must have maintained at least a 3.25 ave rage in their Divin ity program and have completed at least nine semester hours of Greek beyond beginning Greek and 11 semester hours of Hebrew, th ree of wh ich may be Aramaic. Applicants deficient in the bibli cal languages may take th e prerequisi te uni ts at Talbot while tak- ing other Th.M. courses , but such deficiencies must be made up before more than 16 units in other subjects may be taken. Divinity degrees pre- sented from non-accredited seminar- ies and theological schools are individ- ually eva luated. Deficiencies dis- cerned in such cases may be made up by course work at Talbot or other specified accredited institutions. Stu- den ts must also have the personal qualifications necessary for a minister of Christ, including promise of future usefu lness. They must be spiriwally qualified by providing evidence of a born-again experience and a consis- tent Christian manner of life.
