The Master of Divinity c ur ri culum at Tallxit School of Theol ogy is designed tu foster the pur poses for which the seminary was established - preparation for th e propagation of the faith. This pur pose entails an accurate knowledge of the Word of God, the source of faith and the effective means of its communi ca tion. The course of study is therefore designed around these two basic foci. Believing firml y that God in love and g race has provided an answer for the needs of the world in Jesus Christ and that this Jesus is the Christ of the Scriptures, Tal bot e mphasi zes a knowl edge of the content of the Word of God. Su that the Word may be known and ex pou nded accurately and authoritativel y. matters of biblical background. including the lan guages of the Old and New Testa ments, are srndied. Sound princi ples of literary interpretation are also explored as a basis for th e interpretation of th e Scriprnres. On the basis of such interpretation there comes systematic study so as to organize va rious parts of the Word into theological categories. Since the faith of wday does nm stand a lone, hut is rooted in past centuries during which God has prese rved and instructed His people, cogn iza nce of this her itage is taken in a study of the his tory of the church and its doctrine. Previous interaction between faith and the world provides a basis for unde rstanding modern times. It is the seminary's aim that this knowledge of the faith first /_'fip the life of the srndent and then moti vate the student to share it with the world. In accord with this latter aim instruction is given in vital area.s of ministry and communication. From the preparation and delivery of ser mons to indi vid ual invol vement in co unselin g, the c urri c ulum is designed to provide instruction that will facilitate propagation of the faith in the various fields of God's call. Opportunity is also given for the development of ministry skills as principles are applied in the cnn text of ministry in the church. With recognition that the Great Commission commands the church to go into the world to minister to all peoples, the cross-cu rrents of mod ern thought are considered relevant to the preparation of Goers minister. Throughout the course of instruc tion, in teraction is provided with
