OBJECTIVES

Probation students are granted one semester in which to bring their academic work up co the required level (3.0) for continuance in the seminary. A student cannot graduate while on probation. The academic programs lead­ ing co the degree f\faster of Arts with emphases in Bible Expos i­ tion, Nt!w Testament, Old Testa­ ment , Theology, Philosophy of Religion and Et hi cs, and Biblical and Theological Studies-Diversi­ fied are comprised of 64-66 units structured in common co include l ) biblical and theologi cal founda­ tions, 2) academic specialization in one of four disciplines requir­ ing biblical language studies. or general scudies in which bibli cal languages are nor required, and 3) additional elective courses deter­ mined by the student in consulta­ tion with the advisor. Philosophy of Religion and Ethics Emphasis The main purpose of thi s emphasis is co help the student become an apologist and develop the skills involved in doing apolo­ gecic.-s with special focus on philoso­ phy and social ethics. The attitudes and character trait~ of an apologise will be fostered by department activities, professional mode ling. and teaching techniques. The skills necessary for the craft of apologetics will he deve loped by equipping the student to chink for himself or herself, do research and understand the necessary philo­ sophical and ethical concepts for spelling our what Christians believe and why thev hold those beli efs. The Master of Art~ degree, with emph;L~es in 13ible Exposition, New Testament, Old Testament, Theol­ ogy , Philosophy of Religion and Ethics, and Biblical and Theological Swdies-Diversified (non-language), has been developed for those whose c'alling to Christian service is to posi­ tions of leadership for which the Master of Divinity or ocher profes­ sional degrees are not normall y required. It is structured to provide: 1. An understanding of Scrip­ tu res for st udents a nti c ipat in g C hristian miniseries that would include ch urch administrators, para­ church organization leadership, counselors...tenr-making" occupa­ tions in ocher culwres. lay leaders in the local ch urch and ochers. 2. A biblical background for those who are preparing for teach­ ing in non-theological fields . 3. An academic background for chose who find the Master of Arts degree ample for a teaching position either at home or in a foreign co untry. 4. A program of study for missiona ries who have onl y a brief furlough time in which to pursue formal swdy of the Scriptures. 5. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants musr possess a bacca I au rea ce degree. Each should he a graduate from a rec­ ognized or accred ited college with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). All ap pli cants must submit a writte n statement outlining their vocational objectives and how the degree might relate to those objectives.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
