T he Ce rti f ica t e in Bibli ca l S tudi es program is designed with two specific need s in mind. T he first is for persons who seek a year of srndy in preparation fo r a lay service with an overseas mi ss ion age ncy, or for more effect ive lay involvement in the life o f their loca l congrega tion. It also serves as a " trial year in seminary" for persons who wish to test their g ifts and skills with a view toward possible further prepara ti o n for full-time C hristi an mini stry. Ce rtifi ca t e co urse work ma v later be applied towa rd a Master o·f D ivi nity or Master of Arts degree.

Applicants must poss ess a bacca la ur ea t e degree from a n accredited college with a mini­ mum g rade point ave rage of 3.0 (on a 4.0 sca le). All applicants must submit a written sta teme nt o utlining th e ir voca tion a l ob jec ti ve s and how the ce rtifi ca t e relat es to those objectives.

OBJECTIVES

T he Master of T heology cur­ ri culum is a challenging post-1,,,,-adu­ a te degree program desi gned to e quip stud e nts with specialized academic knowledge and advanced professional skills in one of the the­ ological d isciplines. . T he program is of special inte rest to s tude nts who aspire to teach - whether in the church, a Bibl e coll ege or semi­ nary, an ex te nsion center. or in a cross-cultural setting. This is in accord with both A.T.S. (the Asso­ ciation of T heological Schools) and A.A.B.C. (th e American Association of Bible Coll eges) which conside r th e T h.M. degree th e minimum educational credential for teaching biblical and th eologica l subject~ at accredited semina ri es and Bible schools. T he program a lso pro­ vides an excell e nt preparation for those who antici pate further study at the Ph.D. and Th.D. level. Qualified students aspiring to ex ce ll ence a nd leaders hip in many areas of ministry and serv­ ice for C hrist fin d the T h.M. pro­ gra m perso nall y enriching and academica ll y stimulating.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

All applicants are required to s ubmit a Person al S tateme nt of one to two double spaced type­ written pages express in g their career goa ls and persona l objec­ tives in seeking the Th.M. degree. Graduates of other seminaries must file a full application with the Offi ce of Graduate Admissions. This request should indi cate any changes in mari ta l status o r doc­ trinal co nv ic tions since enro ll­ me nt in the Master of D ivinit y degree. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A. Satisfaccoril y complete all cou rses for a total of 32 semes ter units as outlined in the c urri cu­ lum below. B. Obta in a 3.0 GPA with no grade be low a "C-" in all co urses co be c red ited toward g raduation. C. At least 24 units must be taken at this seminary. D. Complete the entire pro­ gram in no rnnre than fi ve years. Srndents are placed on aca­ demic p robation if their G PA for an y semester falls below 3.0 and will remain on probation as long as the single semester or c umul a­ tive GPA remains below 3.0. Probation students are granted one semester in which co bring their academi c work up to the required level (3.0) for con­ tinuance in the seminary. A sw­ dent ca nnot g raduate while o n probation.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The student must present acceptabl e Bachelor o f An s and Bachelor or Master of Divinity degrees. Specifica ll y th ey must have maintained at least a 3.25 average in their Diviniry program and have compl e ted at least nine semester ho urs of Greek beyond beginning Greek and nine semes­ ter hours of Hebrew. Applicants deficient in the biblical languages may take the prerequisite units at T albot while caking m her T h. M. courses, but such deficiencies mu st he made up before more than 16 units in ot he r s ubj ec t s may be taken. Divinity degrees presented fr om non-acc redited seminari es and th eological schools are indi vid­ uall y eva luated. De ficiencies dis­ cerned in such case s may be made up b y course work at Ta lbo t or other specified accredited institu­ tions. S tudents must also have the personal qualifications nece ssary for a mini ster of C hrist , includ ing promis e of futur e usefulnes s. T hey must be spirituall y qualified by providing evidence of a born­ again experience and a consistent C hristian manne r of life.
