BIOLA ISRAEL (IS) Biola Israel is designed for the serious student, committed tO Christ and tO huilding meaningful relationships with others. Students are not limited by academic major, personal back ground or professional goa ls. The program includes seven units of undergrad uate credit. Study begins with a campus based class during the spring semester, including audio-visual presentations of Israe l and a weekend workshop. This is done in preparation for the abroad field studies "on-site" in the Holy Land during the first session of summer school. With this combination, the Bible as well as the morning newspaper comes alive as one traces the routes of biblical characters in conjunction with modern events. While traveling the length and bread th of the country, students actually meet the people who li ve today around the ancient sites of Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth , Joppa, Jericho, Jerusa lem, Masada, the Dead Sea, Beersheba, the place of Israel 's wilderness wander ings, Eilat. the Red Sea and many more. Directed by biblical studies professor Ron Pierce, this unique travel-stud y opportunity provides a thoro ughl y inte grated lea rning experience. In the course of study the cen tra l ropic of "Israel" is approached from the va rying perspec tives of biblica l studies, hisrorical geograph y, intercultural studi es, hisrory (ancient and modern ), reli gion and politica l sc ience. You will even sharpen your skills in interpersonal relationships (sma ll gro up dynamics) and, at th e same time, get into shape ph ys ica ll y for some chall e ng ing hikes. With this in mind, th e following combined spring-summer cur r ic ulum pac kage was designed, which ma y he counted toward grad uati on req uirements in all degree programs.
