Option I: Thirty Unit Curriculum

To be considered for accept­ ance into the nursing program, all app li cants muse have a minimum cumu lative GPA of 2.8 (may he admitted provisionally with a GPA of 2.5-2.79 if space is ava il able). 5. Transfer-challenge stu­ dents who have met prerequisites comparable to th e generi c stu­ dents will have equal access for open spaces in all nursing courses. 6. English 1 l0A and 11013 muse be completed before starting the chal lenge process. It is recommended char the ocher required non-nursing prere quisites are completed as outlined in the standard curriculum chart for the nursing major before entering c linical nursing courses (except 30 unit opt ion). Transfer credit for non­ nursin g courses wi ll be granted by the Regi strar's Office as indi­ cated in the universirv caca log. If a given nursing course fron1 a regionall y accredited nursing pro­ gram is comparable in content and leve l co a g iven co ur se offered by the D epartment of Baccalaureate Nurs ing, transfer c redit wi ll be granted. 7. All candidates wi ll parcici­ ra ce in a cransicion seminar course (N ursing 300: Professional Nursing Seminar ) designed co fa c ilitate sociali zation into bac­ calaureat e professional nursing. Compara­ ble courses will be eva lu ated for transfe r credit. 9. Swdents recei ving finan­ cial assistance ma y need ro cake 12 uni ts while they are challeng­ ing nursing courses. - 10. Fo ll owing notification of acceptance into rhe Department of Nursing, rhe ca ndidate may begin the challenge process. The

process consists of examinat ion with theory and cl ini cal compo­ nents. Contact the Department of Nursing for spec ifi c derails. 11. Prior to going co the clini­ cal agency, all cha ll enge student.~ muse have a current CPR cert ifi­ cate. The Department of Nursing health form required of all nursing majors muse he submiued prior to c lini cal challenge and admission co clinica l nursing courses . This is necessary for Biola co meet agency concracc requirements. 12. Candidates for the challenge process have the option of schedul­ ing the examinations in such a way chat if unsucce ssful , subsequent enrollment in the course is possible. 13. Course credit wi ll be 6.,-anred upon successful completion of the challenge exam. Co11rses may he challenged one time on ly. (C*) denotes that a c lass can be challenged for the units listed. 14. Specific policies related co R.N.'s, L.V.N.'s or L.P.N.'s fo llow. Transfer chall enge scudencs from ocher nursing programs or ocher health profession backgrounds wi ll be evaluated individually. Hold current li censu re in the United Scares. h. Be a graduate of a regionallv accredited program. c. Be a student in a regionall y accredited program. cl. The applicant must. hold curre nt registration in the U .S. Graduates of regional ly accred ­ ited nursing programs in the process of obtaining licensure will be admined on provisional scacus. 2. Option II: Transfer-Challenge I. Just as AON srncle nr s muse demonstrate comparability of transfer courses, LVN scudencs wi ll be g iven the same opportu­ n ity. However. LVN ' s w ill be allowed co challenge lower divi­ sion cou rses if unable ro demon­ s cr,ne comparabilit y from a regionall y accredited academic inscirncion. Nursing 201 and 202 muse he cha ll enged in sequence. 2. Ocher courses required for l icensure may he cha ll enged based on individual portfolio eval­ uation. Nursing in the Commu­ nit y (460) and nursing research cou rses (441 , 442) muse be taken.

I. Thi s option permits the L.V.N. co cake nursing and related science courses in orde r co qualify for the Californi a registered nurse licensing exam ination.
