TH 613 Theology Ill - Christ , Salvation and the Spirit (3) The person and saving work of Christ. The nature and application of salva tion including the person and work of the Spirit. Special emphas is on the practice of sanct ification in personal Ch ri stian living. Required of M.Div. and M.A. studen ts. TH 614 Theology IV - The Church and Last Things (3) A study of the broad kingdom pur pose of Cod and th e future eve nts related to the des tiny of hi story and individuals including Christ 's second coming in its phases, the millennial reign of Christ, the resurrections, the judgments and etern al state. The incep ti on and na ture of the chu rch , both as a living organism and an orga nization, its function, ord inances and place and mission in Cod's purpose. Required of M.Div. and M.A. students. TH 700 The Doctrine of God (2) Advanced study of the reali ty, attrib utes and Triune nature of Cod . In cludes discussion of the human knowledge and the nature of encoun ter with Cod. Prerequisite: TH 511. Elec tive. TH 702 Advanced Bibliology (2) Intensive study of revelation , inspira tion, inerrancy and authority in the light of contemporal)' issues. Prereq uisite :TH 5I l. Elective. TH 707 Roman Catholic Theology (2) A de tail ed study of th e tenets of Roman Catholicism; read ing from representative Roman Catholic litera ture; particular attention given to the distinctions between Roman Catholic and Protestant doctrines. Especially helpful fo r those contemplating mis sionary service in countries dominated by Roman Catholicism. Elective. TH 709 Contemporary Theology (2) The study of contemporary theologi cal positions, including a survey of the ph ilosophical and theological thought leading up to the prese nt scene . Required of M.A. (Th. ) and Th.M. (Systematic Theology) swdents. TH 710 Pneumatology (2) The person and wo rk of the Hol y Spirit both in the Old and New Testa ments with particular attention to His ministries in this age to the individual believer and the church. Prerequisite: NT 501-502. Elective.
TH 728 Theological Systems (2) Several major theological systems of thought emphasizing those within the Prot es tan t perspective , but also including significant Roman Catholic andJewish sys tems. Elective. TH 729 The Theology of the Gospels (2) An examination of the theological teaching ofJesus as recorded in the four Gospel narratives. Special attention is paid to the chronological development of tl1emes taught by Chri st in the light of His presen tat ion and rejection. (Cross listed with NT 729). Elective. TH 730 Pauline Theology (2) The main themes of Paul 's doctri ne from tl1e bibli cal theological perspec tive . (Cross li sted with NT 759). Pre requisite: NT 50 1-502. Elective. TH 740 The Doctrine of the Atonement (2) A study of the biblical mean ing and significance of the aton ing work of Chri st including a swvey of the signifi cant historical interpreta ti ons of the doctrine. Elective. TH 751 Theology of Mission (3) An introduction to theology of mi s sions that focuses on the biblical basis for miss ion. This study seeks to exam ine the motives, aims and methods of mission from both the Hebrew Bible and the 1 ew Testament. TH 761 Directed Study (1-4) Supervised read ing and research in se lected areas of systematic theo logy. Elective. TH 771 Theology Seminar (1-4) The study of selected areas of system at ic or biblica l theology. May be repeated for cred it with different con tent. Elective. TH 802 Millennial Views (2) Acareful and intensive studyof the three main eschatological ,~ews relative to die mill ennium; the historical and biblical strength of the premill ennial sys tem; consideration of the leading amillennial writings. Adetailed analysis of the fou r positions relative to the time of the rap ture; a biblical and tl1eological defense of the preoibulational view, with exegesis of crucial passages of Scripture. Prerequi site: TH 614. Elective for Th.M. sn1dents; others bydeparnnental permission. TH 806 Theology Seminar (1-4) Sel ected problems in the fields of sys tematic or biblical th eology. Based upon the Scrip ture as the ultimate source of authority the doctrin es are developed through the systematic examination and in tegra tion of relevant Scriptures with consid eration given to docu·in al interpre ta tions th roughout church history. Along with the acquisition of a knowl edge of the theological docu·ines of the Scriptures, it is the goal of the depart ment to develop in the students a facil ity whi ch will all ow them to continue their own theological development. COURSES TH 511 Theology I - Introduction: Revelation and Nature of God (3) The nature, method and rationale of Christian theology. Revelation , both general and special, inspiration, canon icityand illumination of Scripture. The doctrine of Cod, including His ex is tence, attributes and Trinitarian nature. Required of M.Div. and M.A. students. TH 512 Theology II - Works of God , Angels , Man and Sin (3) Cod's eternal plan including His king dom purpose and redemptive focus; His work of creation and continued acti,~ty within creation. The angel s, both good and evi l; including their origin, present state, work and desti ny. Creation cif mankind in Cod's image, human nature , the fa ll and the effect of sin upon humani ty. Human life in relation to the divine institutions of the fami ly and civil governmen t. Required of M.Div. and M.A. students. TH 610 Advanced Theology (3) An in-depth study of the major theo logical issues in the areas of bibliol ogy, theology proper, anthropology, hamartiology, so teriology. This cou rse is specifica ll y des igned for those students who rece ive reduction in theol ogy du e to prior studies . Required of M.Div. and M.A. students who are not req ui red to take TH 512 and TH 613.
TH 712 Current Theological Issues (2) An intensive study of the thought of particular contemporary theologians, prominent theo logical or theologi ca lly significant et hi cal issues in the light of biblical revelation. Elective. TH 717 Theology of Human Nature (2) Exploration of key areas relating to the nature of man from both a th eo logical and psychological perspective; the biblical nature of man in compari son to teaching theor ies of human development. The meaning and sig nificance of man created in the image of Cod; nature and dynamics of sin whi ch lead to sins or psychological maladjustmen ts; practical app lication of the above concepts to the areas of personal growth and di sciple, educa ti on and ch ild rea ring and church ministry. Team taught by faculty with strength in theology and psychology. Prerequisite: TH 512, or equivalent. Required of reduced M.A.C.E. stu dents. Elective. TH 718 Theology of Christian Nurture (2) Designed for the student with back ground in the biblical and theological knowledge of soteriology. Considera tion of the na tu re of personal trans formation in regeneration , the means and dynamics of nurture including th e relation of cogniti ve and rela ti onal aspects. Examin ation of the nature of spiritual maturity and its relation to psychological maturity and hindrances to growth. Team taught by faculty with strength in theology and psychology. Prerequisite: TH 512, 613 or equ iva len t. Required of reduced M.A.C.E. students. Elective. TH 720 The Theology and Practice of Prayer (2) A study of the bib li ca l theology of praye r including its meaning, purpose and practice. Elec tive. TH 724 Eschatological Problems (2) Typical exegetical and doctrinal prob lems in the area of Bibl e prophecy. Lectures, assigned problems with wr it ten and classroom reports, discussion and library research . Elective. TH 725 The Dispensational System (2) An intensive study of that system of biblical interpreta tion known as dis pensationa li sm; its hi sto ri cal back ground, modern form and objections. Emphasiz ing primary theological and exege ti cal iss ues or disagreement between dispensational and non-dis pensa tional positions. Elec tive .
