CL 742 The History of Christianity in Missiological Perspective (3) Areview of missiological literature that traces the spread and development of Christiani ty as a wor ld movemen t, from Pentecost to the modern era . Special attention is give to the kind(s) of Christianity the spr ead; the process(es) by which it spread; the effect Christian ity had on the socio­ cultural/pol itical environment(s); and the effect environment had on Chri s­ tianity and is subsequent development. CL 751 Theology of Mission (3) An examination of the theological foundations of mi ssion derived from a study of the history of salvation. This will encompass a study of the mission given to Israel and to the Church including some interaction with con­ tempora1y theologies of mission. CL 765 Crosscultural Leadership (3) Cross-cultural study of leadership including diverse patterns of au thor­ ity, legitimacy, publi c support, leader­ ship recruitmem, and training as they affect commun ication, church growtJ1 and development worldwide. CL 562 Culture Change (3) The study of how cu ltures change, the dynami cs and processes of change , the place of change agents and the speed and intensity of change. Impli­ cations of such processes are exam­ ined in social, political, economic and religious aspects of society. CL 563 Gender Roles in International Setting (3) The dynamics of male and fema le roles in Western, non-Wes tern and biblical cu ltures. Focus on responsi­ bi liti es , ob li gations , expectations , leaderships and inter-relationships as they relate to the society as a whole. CL 565 Personal Leadership Formation (3) The study of the principles and pat­ terns used by God as He raises up leaders for His work. This study will include a discussion of the vital place of spiritual formation in leadership development. CL 570 Introduction to Bible Translation (2-3) An inu·oduction to the principles and problems of intercultural communica­ tion 1,~th special emphasis on translat­ ing the Bible into indigenous languages. CL 622 lntercultural Communication (3) Principles and processes of commun i­ cating from one cu ltu re to another. Focus on different perceptions, ways of thinking, values, non-verbal expres­ sion , language expression and sub­ groups with in a culture as they relate to the media and the message. CL 640 Applied Anthropology for Chris­ tian Workers (3) Study of man , culture, and environ­ ment with special emphasis on the manner in which their re lationship with one another is affected by change agents such as missionaries, educators and development workers.

CL 531 Peoples of Ethnic America (3) A st udy of non- ca ucasia n ethni c groups in America in the light of their historical and socio-cultural back­ ground. CL 532 Peoples of the World (3) Specific area studies with emphasis on customs, social structures , religion, arts, history and intercultural commu­ nication. One or more sections offered every year in areas such as: Africa, Asia, Native America, Middle East, South Pacific, Europe. May be repeated with different course content. CL 540 Principles of Church Planting (3) A study of the biblical mandate to establi sh local chu rches among al l of the peoples making up mankind. Special emphasis on intercu ltural church planting among the unreached peoples of As ia, Africa, Latin America and the ethni c minori­ ties of the western world. CL 546 The Historical Development of the World Christian Movement (3) The background, origin , development and spread of the Christian faith from the apostolic peiiod until today. Empha­ sis wi ll be given to the modern era, espe­ cially contemporary growth dynamics in Afiica, Asia and Latin Ame1ica. CL 550 Christianity and Culture (3) Anthropological approach to Christ­ ian theologizing; interrelati onships between supraculwral Chr ist ianity and human cultures. Focus on con­ version, revelation , communi cation , transformation, indigenity and other related topics.
