The application should be filed at the completion of the fourth semester wi th a fee of $20. D. Meet approval of the facu lty of the School of Busin ess. The process will require an interview with facul ty/ students. Thi s requirement may be waived byaction of the department. E. Prior to fo rmal admi ssion, stu­ dents shall continue to be advised as pre-busin ess majors. DEGREE PROGRAM A Bachew,· ofScience Degreein Business Administration is offered upon the com­ pletion of baccalaureate requirements and the business major in one of the fo l­ lowing emphases: accounting, finance, marketi ng, management and informa­ ti on systems. Thirty of the required units must be upper division. Other requirements include courses: l l l , 190, 201, 202, 211 , 212, 220, 223, 230, 361, 362,370,415, 470. The general education requirement for a foreign language for those fo llowing a business adminisua tion major may be met by two years of high school language or the first fou r uni ts of a college lan­ guage. Business admini sUation majors may use Business 190 and 223 for a math credi t toward the science/ mathematics requirements for the general education requirements, but the uni ts cannot be counted in both gene1<1l education and in the major. Philosophy21 5, Communi­ cation 181 and Psychology 200 are rec­ ommended for all business majors. MAJORS Requirements for the five emphases are as fo llows: Accounting (60 units) Accounting emphasis majors must complete 311 , 312,313,314, 315, 325, 411 , and 412. Information Systems (60 units) Emphasis majors must compl ete: IOI , 275, 302, 31l , 325, 402, 432and 463. Finance (60 units) Fin ance emph asis maj ors must complete: 311 , 312 or 460, 350, 430, 437, 462, 463 and 464. Management (60 units) Management majors must complete: 318,325,421,431,464 and nine units of upper di11sion business electives.

Smi th, Strand Ass istant Professors: Harman, Wong, Woodward OBJECTIVES The School of Busin ess offers fi ve cunicular emphases leading to a Bache­ lor of Science degree in Business Admin­ isuation with concen0ations in accoum­ ing, finance, marketing, management and information systems. Each program is su-uctured to give the student broad understanding of the social and economic environment in whi ch Christ ian business persons function, and provides a common body of knowledge fo r students who elect this major. Sn1dents study economi cs, fin ance , management , busin ess law, accoun ting, and marketing as the core of the major based upon quantitative management skills. The fi ve individual emphases prepare students through additional specified courses to enter a career fi eld in those areas, or to select a giaduate school upon graduation. It is the purpose of the School of Business to prepare highlyskilled, techni­ cally competent business persons who have broad preparation in the li beral arts as we ll , and who can make significant contribu tions in the workplace or in Christian organizations they may serve. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Admi ssion into Bi ola University does not guarantee admi ssion as a busin ess administra tion major in the School of Business, nor permi ssion to enroll in upper di vision business administration courses. (Intermediate Accounting excepted). The foll owing requirements must be observed: A. Complete, with a minimum of a "C" (2.0) grade in each course, Business Statistics 190, Accoun ting 211 and 212, Economics 201 and 202, English II 0A and 11 OB, and Calcu lus fo r Manage­ ment Sciences 223 (24 semester hours), or the equivalent, with a cumulati ve grade poin t average of 2.5. Aminimum requirement of 30 hours of Ge neral Education (including Bible) must be completedwith an overall GPA of2.5. B. Accomplish an overall cumu­ lati ve GPA of 2.5 in all coll ege level course work completed at the time of formal application to the department baccalaureate programs.

Marketing emphasis maj ors must complete: 331, 332,334,431, 432, 433, 435, and one of the following: 336, 430, or 460 (with deparunent approval). MINOR A Minor in Business Adminis­ tration is offered with the completion of 18 units (201 , 211 , 212, 230, 370, 415) plus six units (190 and 220 ) of spec ifi ed quantitative prerequi site co urses. Busin ess 190 also counts toward the general education require- ment for science/ math, but these uni ts cannot be counted toward both ge n- eral education and a business minor. Collec ti on and presentation of busi­ ness data, central tendency and di s­ persion measures fo r business analysis, sampling and inference for confi­ dence intervals and hypothesis testing, business fo recas ting with simple and multiple regression, index numbers. 201 Principles of Macroeconomics (3) Macroeconomi cs: supply and demand analysis, fi scal and moneta1r poli cy, mo ney and banki ng , in te rn ati onal u·ade and the balance of payments. 202 Writings in Microeconomics (3) Integration of basic microeconom ic theo1r with research and composition on issues related to market effi ciency. The course includes an analysis of the firm in the various market structures as well as studies in the resource mar­ kets and regulatory activi ti es. A paper will be a part of course requirement and will double as pass/ fa il on wri ting competency requirement. May not be u·ansferred without consent. Prerequi­ site: 201 and English II0Aand l! 0B.
