PRE-PHYSICAL THERAPY (55 UNITS) A Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a pre-Physical Therapy emphasis is for students who plan to pursue a graduate de­ gree (master's or doctoral) in physical therapy, occupational therapy or other programs in allied/ sports health care. Our program is designed to meet the prerequisite needs of most nationwide gradu­ ate programs. Obtaining a degree with this concentration requires 47 units, 25 of which must be upper division. Requirements include 301, 302,303,335,401,408,420,480 for six units, Biology 252,281 and 311 or Psychology 412; Physical Science 111, 112. The remaining 12 units of electives, of which nine must be upper division, are chosen from: BIOS 111,112,282,310,312,322,342,431; CHEM 301,302,311, 312, 411, 412, 422 A, 422 B; MATH 332; PEED 307,402; or PSYC 210, 309,320,325,420. Also, PEED 101 must be taken as a part of the four semester general education requirement in physical education. Minor A minor in Kinesiology, Health and Physical Education is offered for those with an interest in personal training, group fitness instruction, coaching or physical education. Twenty units beyond the general ed­ ucation requirement must be completes, 12 of which must be upper division. All courses for the minor must be 200-level or higher, with the exception of PEED 180. Required courses include Biology 252 and PEED 301, and the remaining units must be chosen in consulta­ tion with a department advisor in order to create a focus area.

Students studying for the multiple subject teaching credential but not selecting physical education as a minor area of concentration, should select P.E. 201 and two other physical education activity classes to fulfill the general education requirement. Deg ree Program A Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education or a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology is offered upon completion of the university baccalaureate and major requirements. All major require­ ments must be completed with a "C-" or better grade.

Major PHYSICAL EDUCATION

SECONDARY TEACHING CREDENTIAL (52 UNITS) A Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education is designed for students who wish to teach physical education in schools, and requires 52 units, 37 of which must be upper division. Requirements include the following 180,201,205,301,302,303,307,331,332, 335, 400,401,405,408,412,420, and eight units of activity courses in addition to the four semester general education requirement (which must include PEED 101 ). Biology 252 and 281 are required as sup­ porting courses for all physical education majors. For the teaching credential program, LEDU 301, 330,341,425 and 435 are required. Those students interested in a teaching credential are to consult the Education Department for details on current teaching credential programs. A Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology is offered upon compie- tion of the university baccalaureate requirements and one of the following major emphases.

EXERCISE SCIENCE & HEALTH PROMOTION (53 UNITS)

A Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science and Health Promotion is ideal for students who wish to work in health and fitness, wellness promotion or strength and conditioning, and serves as preparation for graduate study in exercise physiology, athletic training, and other kinesiology-related disciplines. This concentration requires 53 units, 31 of which must be upper division. Requirements include 205,301,302,303,307, 335,400,401,408,420,480 for six units, Biology 252 and 281. The remaining 12 units of electives, of which six units must be upper division, are chosen from: BIOS 111, 112, 282,310, 311, 312, 322, 342, 431; CHEM 106,301,302,311,312,411,412,422 A, 422 B; MATH 332; PEED 402; PHSC 112; or PSYC 210, 309, 320,325,412,420. Also, PEED 101 must be taken as a part of the four semester general education requirement in physical education.

Recreation classes offered are backpacking, outdoor survival, mountain biking, road cycling and rock climbing.
