Theatre Productions The Speech/ Drama emphasis within the Communication Studies Department provides fall and spring drama productions and many student-driven productions for the campus and immediate commu­ nity. These productions are open for audition to all students, faculty and staff. Theatre seasons include serious drama, comedies, original student and family productions and musical theatre. Forensics In recent years Biola University has been ranked with successful speech squads among colleges and universities nationwide. As an active member of the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association, Biola regularly attends debate and individual events speech tournaments throughout the western states. Exceptional student performances qualify for national tournaments each year in individual events and team debates. OTHER PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES One-act play fund raisers for the forensics team, student film produc­ tions and occasional on-campus musical theatre productions have open auditions for all students, staff and faculty members. Perfor­ mance dates are spread throughout the academic year. Student Ministry Sociologists state that even the mostly shy, introverted person will influence 10,000 people in their lifetimes. By the year 2009, Student Ministries will directly prepare 5,000 students to minister God's grace, truth, and redemption to the world, ultimately resulting in over a billion people being impacted for the Lord Jesus Christ. It's a move­ ment that starts with just one person.
