Nicole Talbert Participates in Class Project

Nicole Talbert, B Shift Production and the daughter of Tina Talbert, A Shift Production, is attending Northern Illinois University in DeKalb where she is a Business Administration Major. This particular college major requires instruction in all five disci- plines in the college of business, those disciplines being finance, marketing, management and account ing and operational management and information systems (OMIS). For Operations Management, Nicole was tasked with a project as part of her aca- demic requirements to receive her Operations Cer- tificate. Nicole and her classmates, known as Team Collaboration, chose Opportunity House in Syca- more as the recipient of their project. Opportunity House is a not-for-profit organization that helps persons with disabilities expand their life experi- ences through residential, vocational, social and

recreational opportunities. Nicole said that her team “wanted to help these individuals that work for themselves and aim for more independence, because they mirror us (the college students) in working toward the goal of start ing a better life with more independence and self-reliance.” Her team was able to garner funds and donations which were used to put together kits for people receiving services at Opportunity House who benefit from basic need items being provided to them to aid in a cost of living reduction. Fifteen individuals were each given a gift bag that contained full size bath towels, washcloth sets, 12 pack of bar soap, a tube of toothpaste, a couple of toothbrushes and a bottle of shampoo. In addition, a monetary donation was made to the Opportunity House organization. Ni- cole is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2016 with her Bachelors in Business Administration along with the Operations Certificate as well as a Social Entrepreneurship Certificate. Team Collaboration would like to thank Crest Foods for their donation to this very worthy cause.

Nurse Heidi’s Second Home

Nurse Heidi has found a second home! When Crest Foods first started the services of a nurse several years ago, it began slowly with someone on staff two days per week, then three days and now we are utilizing a nurse four days per week. There was always a dream of having a second nurse’s office in the West facility. That dream was realized when the new construction and remodeling of the West facility packaging area was recently completed. Now, located conve- niently right inside the main entrance of the West facility, Heidi has a near mirror image of her Main Plant office. Heidi splits her time between the two buildings and two shifts during her four days of work. Stop by to say hello or schedule an appointment with Heidi.
