EDITED BY PETER MORRICE what to play
Size Matters More than four decades ago, the first steel drivers like the so-called “Pittsburgh Persimmon” from TaylorMade were barely the size of today’s hybrids. Today, the TaylorMade Qi10 Max is nearly four times the size, its forgiveness has tripled and much of its face trampolines balls faster than dead-solid hits did a generation ago. Still, after all that Brobdingnagian growth, tour players are less likely to hit a fairway than they were when drivers were made of wood. Such is progress.
