Congratulations, Charles A. McCullough, MAI, AI-GRS
Effective March 25th, 2018, Charles A. McCullough, MAI has earned his AI-GRS designation. He will be presented his certificate at the April 17th chapter meeting. Charles has been active as an appraiser in the South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania area for over thirty years with a focus on valuation of commercial/ industrial properties. His state general certification includes New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Charles began his appraisal career with Renwick and Associates. He is currently a real estate appraiser and CPA with McCullough MAI CPA LLC, where he also performs business valuations. Charles’s education includes a B.S. in accounting from Rowan University, summa cum laude, and an MBA from Rutgers University, magna cum laude. He is a licensed real estate broker in NJ and a former director of the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, now part of the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. He currently serves as the chapter’s Vice President. Michael Descano to Attend LDAC Michael Descano will represent the chapter at this year’s Leadership Development & Advisory Council (LDAC) meeting this May. LDAC is a group of dedicated appraisers who come together once a year inWashington, D.C., to formulate solutions to problems and challenges faced by the appraisal profession. LDAC strives to foster creative thought from talented individuals involved in the real estate appraisal profession while developing future leaders of the Appraisal Institute. LDAC also establishes an “appraiser-presence” in Congress and demonstrates that the Appraisal Institute is made up of professionals who recognize the importance of being actively involved in the political process. LDAC has served as a source of leadership and as an inspiration for new programming ideas for the Appraisal Institute since 1969. Through a series of roundtable discussions, LDAC provides a forum where ideas and opinions on targeted topics of concern to the appraisal profession are exchanged. Michael, who is the Principal Appraiser/Owner of M. Descano Real Estate Solutions in Cherry Hill, has been appraising real estate throughout the Delaware Valley for almost 15 years and is experienced in the valuation of a wide variety of commercial, industrial, residential, and agricultural use properties. He serves as the chapter’s treasurer. Seminar Scheduled with Assessors On April 17, the Southern NJ Chapter of the Appraisal Institute will hold its annual meeting with the New Jersey tax assessors. The topic of the 3-hour seminar, beginning at 3pm at the Adelphia Restaurant in Deptford, is “Trends Affecting South Jersey Appraisal/Assessing Industry.” The seminar will be presented by Tom Quirk, Executive Director, New Jersey Coastal Coalition; Don Smith, ARH Associates; and Freeholder Jeffrey L. On Friday, March 23, the chapter held its first USPAP update class of the year; the second in the new cycle for information as presented by The Appraisal Foundation. Thirty-nine people attended, and the class was instructed by Frank O’Neill, SRA. Also, the chapter randomly awarded the book “Exceeding Expectations: Producing Appraisal Reports and Services That Delight Clients,” a publication from The Appraisal Institute, to an attendee --- and Matt Kane was the lucky student.
