MEMBER HIGHLIGHT On July 28, 1972, Preston and Mary Ann Lentz celebrated their wedding reception at The Pacific Club, then just 12 years into its new clubhouse. Following their ceremony at Central Union Church, guests gathered in the Main Dining Room for cocktails and local favorites. A lighthearted moment came during the bouquet toss in the garden, when the bride's bouquet landed on the roof and was retrieved from a lychee tree by Mary Ann’s younger brother. Telegrams from mainland family were read aloud, adding to the joy of the evening. Fifty years later, on July 29, 2022, the Lentz family returned to The Pacific Club, once again surrounded by loved ones. Hosted in the Card Room, the celebration featured a “then and now” photo slideshow set to Hawaiian songs and music from the 1970s, with fragrant ginger lei, hula, and a three-course dinner highlighted by a dry-aged bone-in ribeye from the Mess Steakhouse menu. When asked the secret to their long and happy marriage, they happily agree that it is saying, “Yes, dear.” I’m sure we will be busy! We are going to be featuring member highlights this year.
