CHARLEE & FRIENDS SPECIALTY COCOA & CHOCOLATE

Our shop has entered the 'International Chocolate Awards 2024' in the Drinking Chocolate category held in Italy, where we won a bronze medal with our latest blend, Central North No.1 75%. This chocolate is a blend of cocoa from the central (upper) and northern regions of Thailand, specifically from Kamphaeng Phet and Tak provinces, resulting in a flavor profile that is easy to understand yet retains the complexity of craft chocolate.

STORY & PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF/ CHARLEE & FRIENDS

The highlight of Charlee Cafe is its control over the entire production process, from assisting farmers in cultivation and selecting produce to processing it into chocolate. This allows the cafe to maintain the quality and safety of its products, free from additives or chemicals, and offering a unique taste.

E VERY process emphasizes a homemade presentation, whether it is the pastries sold in the cafe or the freshly brewed beverages, likened to craftwork with meticulous attention to detail in every cup. Specialty Cocoa & Chocolate can also be referred to as craft cocoa and chocolate. The cafe later partnered with friends to expand branches into Bangkok, deciding to rebrand to better suit the customer base with a friendlier and more modern approach. This rebranding includes changing the concept, mood & tone, packaging, and brand name to Charlee & Friends. Charlee and Friends aims to bring a new chocolate and cocoa drinking experience from local origins to Bangkok. Using their processing experience, they present to customers the differences between cocoa and chocolate, gather chocolate from various provinces in Thailand as ingredients for customers to taste local specialties, introduce new and rare menu items, and provide knowledge

about the benefits of cocoa/chocolate, which can be consumed as both desserts/food and healthy beverages. Specialty Cocoa & Chocolate is characterized by unique aromas and flavors, derived from specific growing areas, fermentation processes, and processing methods, each resulting in different flavors and scents. Producing these products requires skill and experience to ensure natural flavors rich in beneficial nutrients. We carefully select premium beans and explore various areas to introduce new flavors, allowing consumers to experience authentic Thai chocolate and cocoa. Our cafe sent chocolate to compete in the International Chocolate Awards 2024 in the Drinking Chocolate category in Italy, where our latest blend, Central North No.1 75%, won a bronze medal. This chocolate blends cocoa from the central (upper) and northern regions, specifically Kamphaeng Phet and Tak provinces, creating an accessible yet complex flavor characteristic of craft chocolate.
