complimentary family entertainment for racegoers to enjoy. The Devon Air Ambulance is a hugely important charity in our county, with 2018 being its busiest year since operations began 27 years ago. Exeter has the festive season wrapped up with two December meetings on Friday 6th December and Thursday 19th December. All roads then lead to a true Devon tradition at our New Year’s Day raceday. Whatever the weather, it’s a day not to be missed and will doubtless get 2020 off to a flyer. Last year saw Superheroes return to Exeter Racecourse, providing a day of entertainment for all the family. From high ropes to climbing walls and real-life superheroes there was something for everyone and a key date in our racing calendar. This season is set to follow in it’s footsteps with more information on activities on the day to follow, so make Sunday 22nd March a date in your diary to join us for another action-packed day on Haldon Hill. AS DEVON’S SPORTING venues go, Exeter Racecourse is one of the most iconic. Quite simply, it is steeped in history and punctuated with rousing performances from horses racing at the highest level. Legends such as Best Mate, Denman, Kauto Star and Cue Card have all added their own magic to the racecourse in years gone by, and this season we are sure to see a new star. It’s a social hub for racegoers from all walks of life who congregate on Haldon Hill to talk horses and enjoy one another’s company , while for trainers it has proved a valuable stepping stone for horses setting out in their careers. That trend looks set to continue on Thursday 10th October when the brilliance of racing returns to

Devon’s most hallowed turf at the Season Opener and we celebrate 250 years of racing under The Jockey Club rules. The season gallops onto Best Mate Beginners’ Chase Day on Tuesday 22nd October after which we set the stage for the county’s greatest and most important race, the Haldon Gold Cup, on Tuesday 5th November. We will be welcoming those spring-heeled two-mile chasers who will be vying for their place in the history books for the Grade 2 race. Exeter Racecourse supports a variety of charities and this season will be no exception.
