THE JOCKEY CLUB EXPERIENCE

Providing a safe and secure environment for all racegoers

ALMOST HALF A million people visit Cheltenham each season and it’s our priority that as well as providing a great day out for everyone, we host a safe and secure environment. On racedays, there is a full medical team of 40 people, which includes crowd doctors and paramedics, nurses, first aiders and other support staff provided by South Western Ambulance Service and St John’s Ambulance. The teams work tirelessly to support and aid any incidents that may require help. Whether it be a racegoer falling ill, a trip down a step or a major heart attack, the team are equipped and trained to deal with all situations. On arrival Racegoers are encouraged not to bring large items into the

racecourse. All bags will be searched upon entry which may slow down your entry into the racecourse. Please allow time for your bag to be searched. Handbags and backpacks (of an appropriate size) will

be allowed into the enclosures. Suitcases, holdalls, and larger rucksacks will not be granted entry and racegoers will be invited to use the left luggage facilities located next to the enclosures before the bag search locations. An exception will be made for essential medical items by contacting us prior to the raceday via email at cheltenham.reception@the jockeyclub.co.uk. Racegoers will require a letter issued by our team to show proof of correspondence before such items are granted entry into the racecourse. Left luggage A limited left luggage service is provided within temporary facilities external to the enclosures (North and The

Centaur entrances). There is a left luggage facility external to the Best Mate entrance at The November Meeting and The Festival ™ , presented by Magners. However, we do recommend that you leave luggage and other items at home, if at all possible. Any items left may be subject to rummage searches. Search dogs Search dogs may be in use during racedays, both at entrances and within the enclosures during the afternoon’s racing. For further information, please email cheltenham.reception@ thejockeyclub.co.uk or call 01242 513 014.
