Tower

I t has been lovely to see the end of the academic year return to some form of normality after a difficult year. It always amazes me to see the levels of resilience and perseverance within our community, as well

Christmas is always a special time at the College and this year was no different. The prefects decorated the JCR with their usual excitement and helped prepare for our ‘Twelve days of Tower Christmas’ activity for the last few weeks of term.

as how we have worked collaboratively together to navigate through challenging times. This has certainly been true this year, but it has not stopped us from making the most out of every situation. During the Michaelmas Term, we successfully performed our version of the ‘ Life of Muhammad Ali ’. This was painstakingly researched and the boys

‘We celebrated ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ by reflecting in the Chapel, having homemade banana milkshakes and even cooking a cake for Matron, cleaning staff and the Chaplain.’

The Lent Term saw the return of lockdown but this time with a difference - we still had some pupils on site! The boys certainly made the best of having the grounds to themselves and a change in weather saw snow laying heavily for the first time in a number of years. This called for compulsory snowball fights on

the backfield and brought the rivalry between Tower and Lodge to new levels! We celebrated ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ by reflecting in the Chapel, having homemade banana milkshakes and even cooking a cake for Matron, cleaning staff and the Chaplain. It was nice to give back something to those that had given so much of their time to us and was very well received by all. Chinese New Year was also celebrated by making homemade dumplings and rewarding ourselves with a takeaway!

were fully engaged and adamant about portraying and bringing awareness to some of the flaws in society. A special mention goes to Chris Pun who scripted the piece and our Third Form (Pelumi, Nana, Oba, Prashant, Prince, John and Tobi), who rose to the challenge and participated in their first competition. This certainly took them out of their comfort zone. As a result, I very much hope they will want to take on a more substantial role next year and encourage their peers to do the same. We had our very own ‘ MasterChef ’ where we invited Lodge and Bellerby to a series of three course meals, and where I cooked for them as an alternative to Saturday night town leave due to the restrictions back then. This certainly challenged me and it was lovely to see the boys extend their friendship groups and be so welcoming to others. Our annual House hoodie was back and, once again, was designed by our prefect team who went for a more classic look. We also participated in odd socks day, supporting anti-bullying week and even found time to make full use of the College’s ground by playing an entire game of House hide and seek!
