thing’ and I, for one, loved it as indeed did the boys. The World Cup that was played out in Kirby was passionate and, for them, it really stood for something at such a tricky time for our Year 7 and 8 boys. As the weeks went by and pre-tournament favourites began to struggle, it was clear how much everyone had developed technically and, actually, how much fun they all had. Was it Samoa that won it or was it Tonga? Do I remember England winning? In the end that was all of little importance for me because the winner was seeing how much young men across the school enjoyed the rugby season that wasn’t a rugby season! Bring on 2021. 

U14’s and U15’s. There are many matches where I cannot recall the results from 2020 but it’s funny how I remember the two staff victories in these games! Kirby gave us some of the best impressions on the rugby field during our ‘Ready4Rugby’ term. Starting contact can be a little difficult if you have never played rugby before, however, the bigger boys did not necessarily have the luxury of just being able to run through everyone. It now came down to a game of pure skill and it was clear to see that the small boys were the most determined that I’d ever seen them in my entire teaching career. Everyone had to develop their technical skills or fear being left behind. This was a season where the early developer for once may have actually been at a disadvantage in the sport of rugby.
