THIS BIGGEST LITERARY EVENT IN THE REGION deals with the promoting of literary crea- tivity and education, international cultural exchanges and launching current literary and social issues. Informally known as a holiday of books, the Book Fair welcomes the most important local writers and numerous foreign writers and publishers each year, who present their existing and current works. A rich ancillary programme represents an important charac- teristic of the Book Fair. Through numerous promotions, presenta- tions, lectures, roundtables and discussions, participants pres- ent members of the profession- al and general public with numer- ous important literary, publishing and cultural topics. The International Belgrade Book Fair is one of the region’s oldest and most important literary events. Fair, our Belgrade event very quick- ly closed the gap on its role mod- el and has managed to remain the most important such event in the Balkans for decades. It has been spiced up nicely in recent years with the inclusion of guest of hon- our countries, which present their national literature over a large area. All Serbian publishers, as well as the region’s most reputable pub- lishers, present their annual pub- lishing production at the Fair. For visitors and lovers of the writ- ten word, the Belgrade Book Fair provides a unique opportunity to find a wide range of books avail- able in one place and with spe- cial discounts, as well as to meet their favourite authors, discover new ones and attend numerous events on the programme.
