FROM A FASHION DESIGNER’S PERSPECTIVE The distinctive style of fashion capitals We spoke with Zvonko Marković about why fashion is art and why Paris Haute Couture Week is the most luxurious fashion event on the planet, but also about what distinguishes it from the world’s other top fashion events
Despite the fact that the pre- senting of all fashion shows is fol- lowed by the drawing of some de- termining factors that run through the majority of collections to form elements that we popularly refer to as trends, each city and region has its own clear determinants and distinctiveness. Just a few days previously, the same venue of the old Commod- ities Exchange had hosted a pres- entation of Versace’s haute couture collection, with this historical edi- fice adding an extra touch of magic to the designs presented.
