Medijana Medijana je luksuzno predgrađe antičkog grada Na- isussa (današnjeg Niša), koje je izgrađeno krajem 3. i početkom 4. veka tokom vladavine rimskog cara Konstantina Velikog i njegovih naslednika. Danas je Medijana jedan od najznačajnih arheoloških parko- va u Srbiji, u kom se na površini od 40 hektara mogu videti ostaci raskošne vile sa peristilom, ostaci dve ranohrišćanske crkve, delovi žitnice, vojničkih bara- ka i vodotornjeva. Posetioci takođe mogu videti i vi- še od 1.000 kvadratnih metara vrednih podnih mo- zaika, koji dočaravaju deo raskoši ove jedinstvene carske rezidencije. Mediana Mediana was a luxurious suburb of the ancient city of Naissus (today’s Niš) built in the late 3rd and early 4th centuries, during the reign of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great and his successors. Mediana is today one of Serbia’s most important archaeological parks, where – on an area of 40 hectares – you can see the remains of a magnificent villa with a peristyle colonnade, the remains of two early Christian church- es, parts of a granary, military barracks and water towers. Visitors can also check out more than 1,000 square metres of floor mosaics that evoke part of the extravagance of this unique imperial residence.

Niška tvrđava Stare, čvrste, visoke zidine i kapije niške Tvr- đave, koje se od prve polovine 18. veka uz- dižu na desnoj obali Nišave, ubrajaju se me- đu najlepše i najbolje očuvane na srednjem Balkanu. Istorija utvrđenja na ovom mestu počinje u 1. veku, kada su rimske legije utira- le put novoj svetskoj civilizaciji. Građena od strane Rimljana, Vizantinaca i Srba, tvrđa- va je rušena i obnavljana više puta, da bi joj konačan izgled dale Osmanlije 1730. U Tvr- đavi se mogu videti brojni ostaci burne niš- ke istorije. Niš fortress Rising on the right bank of the Nišava are the old, solid, high rampart walls and gates of Niš Fortress, which has stood since the first half of the 18 th century and ranks among the most beautiful and best-preserved fortress- es in the Central Balkans. The history of for- tifications on this site dates back to the 1st century AD, when Roman legions paved the way to a new world civilisation. Built by Ro- mans, Byzantines and Serbs, this fortress has been demolished and rebuilt sever- al times, only to receive its final appearance courtesy of the Ottomans in 1730. Within the fortress itself you can see numerous remains testifying to Niš’s turbulent history.
