Andrija Poirot will be authentically mine MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

Poirot is one of the most beloved literary charac- ters, and he also happens to have been portrayed phe- nomenally by David Such- et. Will your Hercule re- semble his or do you intend to make him complete- ly different and authentic? Maybe even comical? “Hercule Milošević, or Andrija Poirot, will be authentically mine. My small, personal and also slightly mischievous act. I will run around between melodramatic, emotion- al relationships and action-come- dy scenes that switch to exciting mystery in the uncovering of the crime. It will ultimately be a bril- liant exposé of the genius detective.” Kenneth Branagh didn’t really appear to excel as Poirot. How did you like his Hercule? “Those are extraordinary stories and I liked the way he did it. It's re- ally inspiring to see the love with which he approached his work on those films.” And finally, did you find any similarities between your- self and Poirot; and how are your ‘little grey cells’? “We agreed immediately, Her- cule and I, that I’m more important than him in this story and that he will help to lubricate my grey cells, which are slightly rusty, with new perspectives.”

Just after midnight, a snowdrift halts the Orient Express in its track near Vinkovci. The luxury train is surprisingly full for the time of year, but by morning there will be one pas- senger less. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed 12 times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated with the murderer on a snowed-in train, Hercule Poirot must unravel this very complex mur- der mystery… Or it would be more accurate to say that the crime solving will have to be done by Andrija Mi- lošević, in the role of the famous Belgian detective, on the stage of Vuk Theatre on 25 th September. Di- recting the play od theatre Boško Buha is Darijan Mihajlović, based speaking about the theatre play in which he will portray Agatha Christie’s famous detective Hercule will be my little, personal, slightly mischievous act, says Andrija Milošević,

on the Ken Ludwig adaptation and the text that’s been translated from English by Ivana Dimić. Alongside Andrija Milošević, the cast includes Viktor Savić, Borka Tomović, Lena Bogdanović, Jelena Trkulja, Kata- rina Gojković, Katarina Marković, Vladan Dujović, Igor Damnjanović, Stefan Bundalo and Miljan Prljeta. But there’s nobody like Poirot, and Milošević will have to “fill some really big boots”. Many great actors have previously portrayed this detec- tive, who has so many unusual char- acter traits and such well-developed “little grey cells”. Albert Finney, Ken- neth Branagh and the unsurpassed David Suchet are just a few of them. We start by asking Milošević if he even likes Agatha Christie... “She wrote masterpieces of that genre of literature that are etched deeply into the cultural heritage of the world. Mystery and the struggle for justice, geniuses from the periph- ery who save the world, those are premises that I adore. I approached my work on this role with a lot of passion and love, and I’m certain of the success of this latest production of Boško Buha Theatre.”
