Air Serbia carried over 400,000 passengers on scheduled and charter flights during July, through its home airport in Belgrade and airports in Niš and Kraljevo HIGHEST MONTHLY PASSENGER NUMBERS IN JULY

AIR SERBIA HAS ACHIEVED ITS HIGHEST monthly passenger num- bers in a single month since Octo- ber 2013, when the airline first be- gan operations under its current name. The number of passengers carried this July was up 47% com- pared to the same month of 2021, when the Serbian national airline carried a total of 276,191 passen- gers. Passenger numbers are also up nine per cent compared to the record-breaking pre-pandemic ye- ar of 2019, when Air Serbia carried 372,839 passengers. The Serbian flag carrier expe- cts its July 2022 passenger num- bers to account for over 55% of the total number of passengers trave- lling via Belgrade Nikola Tesla Air- port. “The results we achieved in July are a good indicator that we made correct and timely business deci- sions when it comes to schedu- ling for this summer season. Here I primarily mean the strategic laun- ching of new routes to tourist de- stinations, including those in Italy and Spain, which were most popu- lar among passengers during the summer season. This result is al- so a consequence of the additional growth of charter traffic by approxi-

mately 37% this season, compared to 2019. We will continue to keep a close eye on market demands and boost our capacities on the most popular routes in our network, and we are certain that the sta- ble growth trend will continue in the coming months,” said Air Serbia General Manager, Commercial and Strategy, Boško Rupić. Attractive summer destinati- ons are seeing a big uptick in pas- senger numbers compared to Ju- ly last year, and traffic to Barcelona has grown by 172%, to Larnaca by 133%, to Dubrovnik by 128% and to Athens by 62%. The Belgrade-Ma- drid route, which was suspended last year due to the pandemic, re- turned to its 2019 levels immedia- tely upon being restored. There is high demand year-round for desti- nations like London, which has seen passenger numbers grow by 151%, Zurich, with 87% growth, Istanbul (43%), Berlin (40%) and New York (27%). Increased mobility among the Serbian diaspora from Europe- an cities towards the region is ac- companied by growth on regional routes, with Sarajevo experiencing growth of 67%, Skopje 71%, Ljublja- na 35% and Zagreb 52%, compa- red to last year.
