I f you welcomed 2022 in Bel- grade, you certainly expe- rienced a celebration that outdid those of many larg- er world capitals. Regard- less of whether the stroke of mid- night found you at the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park, in the Banovo Brdo neighbourhood or on the Sava Promenada, the spec- tacle marking the city’s entry in- to the new year, staged from Ku- la Belgrade, was an event that will long be recounted with the same kind of admiring appreciation that it received in world media reports. The magical fireworks show, to the accompaniment of music inspired by local heritage, proved the most beautiful way to show the world what Belgraders and guests of the Serbian capital already know: that Belgrade Waterfront, the new urban neighbourhood on the right bank of the Sava, combines modern technology with local tradition, an international spirit with Belgrade’s famous charm, the dynamism of the city’s urban pulse with the tranquil- lity of the river and lush greenery. Adding to the spectacle was the Kula Belgrade itself, the “crown” of the Belgrade Waterfront complex, which stands out not only due to its height of 168 metres and the innovative construction solutions applied, but also due to its impres-
sive silhouette, which represents an homage to the city over which it towers. Specifically, Kula Belgrade’s twisting “curved” shape is inspired by one of the city’s greatest natu- ral jewels: Ušće, the confluence of the rivers Sava and Danube. Hidden behind its attractive glass façade is the equally attractive interior of a hotel and branded St. Regis apart- ments, straight from the portfolio of the famous Marriott Internation- al hotel and residential chain. The first guests and residents will real- ise their Belgrade fairy-tale as ear- ly as this year, which is also when a viewing platform will open at the very top of Kula Belgrade. From here, locals and guests will redis- cover Belgrade from an entirely new perspective. Until then, guaranteed enjoy- ment of the view is provided for those indulging in the tradition- al drinking of coffee on the Sava Promenada or the local and inter- national specialities of the restau- rants of Galerija, the region’s largest shopping, gastronomic and enter- tainment destination, which is lo- cated on the very bank of the riv- er. Sunlight reflecting off the Sava, the shade of Sava Park, murals as a backdrop for the most beautiful self- ies, exhibitions and concerts un- der an open sky, or, in short, Bel- grade Waterfront.
