Njih tri ve- ka, a možda i duže, ljudi nisu prekrši- li. Rezultat je, naravno, očaravajući… Pored fascinatnog zelenila, u prašu- mi ćete naići na raznoliko biljno rasti- nje i divljač. Ne smemo da zaboravi- mo ni umirujuće zvuke leve pritoke reke Resave, potoka Vinatovca. Nje- govo žuborenje i savršeno čist vazduh odvešće vas u neku drugu dimenzi- ju, onu u kojoj je priroda prepuštena samoj sebi… A to znači – potpuno očuvana priroda, bez i najmanje ljud- ske intervencije. RAINFOREST Vinatovača and Busovata already rep- resent strictly protected nature re- serves of the Kučaj-Beljanica mas- sif that are known for their preserved beech forests of very high quality. Many of the trees here are over 200 years old, while some beech trees
RAVANICA MONASTERY Ravanica Monastery is located ap- proximately 10 km to the east of Ćupri- ja, on the road to Despotovac, and represents the most impressive edi- fice of the Morava School of architec- ture. This monastery is the largest and main endowment of Prince Lazar Hre- beljanović. His mortal remains were first transferred to Ravanica in 1392. Then, following the Great Serb Mi- gration of 1690, the relics of this ho- ly prince were relocated to the town of Szentendre near Budapest, from whence they were quickly moved to Vrdnik, where they remained until be- ing moved to Belgrade in 1942, only to finally be returned, with great honours, to this endowment of Lazar in 1989.
have grown into real giants – reach- ing heights of 46 metres and a trunk diameter exceeding a metre. This protected natural asset is one of the most impressive elements of the re- lief of Kučaj and one of the Balkans’ most important centres of biodiver- sity. Vinatovača is a rainforest that’s governed by only one rule – the one prescribed by nature. This rule hasn’t been violated by the people for three centuries, and maybe longer. The re- sult, naturally, is captivating… Apart from fascinating greenery, in this rain- forest you’ll also find a wide variety of flora and fauna. We must not for- get to mention the soothing sounds of the left tributary of the river Resava - the Vinatovac stream. Its murmur- ing and perfectly clean air will trans- port you to some other dimension, one where nature is left to its own de- vices. The Vinatovac rainforest is un- der a strict regime of protection – fell- ing trees is prohibited, and picking plants isn’t even permitted. Another characteristic of this surreal paradise on earth is not only that no tree has been cut down here, but that none of those that have fallen have even been taken away or relocated. Quite sim- ply, when a tree here falls under the weight of snow, due to the wind or out of old age, it remains in the rainforest and is not touched. And that means: completely preserved nature, with- out even the slightest human inter- vention.
