LAZAR’S CANYON Cut into thick limestone rocks un- der the mountain of Malinik, covering a distance of nine kilometres of verti- cal, wild cliffs, complete with numer- ous fissures and caves, this area rep- resents Eastern Serbia’s longest and deepest canyon. Only three to four metres wide in its narrowest part, it reaches depths of as much as 500 metres. In certain places, the river passes between natural stone blocks that have been wedged together to form natural bridges. The territory en- compassed by the natural monument of Lazar’s Canyon is characterised by a wealth of exceptional natural treas- ures: a network of limestone canyon valleys of impressive dimensions and distinct morphological forms; numer- ous significant speleological objects (more than 70 caves and pits); rich flo- ra and fauna etc. KRUPAJa SPRING According to legend, the Homol- je Mountains are home to a treasure that’s located at the bottom of a gold- en cave that the locals of this area still search for tirelessly. This claim could be up for debate, but there’s no de- bate when it comes to defining the real treasure of this area: the Krupaj Spring, which represents a truly ex- otic scene with its fluctuating hues of green and blue. Krupaja Spring is a unique natural oasis that will give you the impression that you are in “Thai- land in the middle of Serbia”, wrapped
